Ethan frowned at the word “wife“, about to ask what he meant.
Olivia pretended to wipe away non–existent tears, “Ethan, my hand hurts so much. Will I not be able to play the piano anymore?”
Seeing her cry, Ethan immediately panicked, holding her in his arms and comforting her softly.
A nurse standing on the outskirts scoffed, “What are you pretending for? If you had come any later, the wound would have healed completely.”
Olivia’s tears fell in large drops, and Ethan coldly looked at the nurse, “Is this how your hospital treats patients?”
The nurse showed no fear on her face, “We’re here to treat illnesses and save lives, not to act in your play!”
“The girl who was just brought in had wounds all over her hands. The nurse who called said if they’re not treated promptly, both hands will be ruined!”
Ethan suddenly thought of Rachel’s bloodied hands. She was always targeting Olivia, he just wanted to teach her a lesson.
It was just a few razor blades, how could that cause disability?
The doctor also chimed in, “Miss Olivia’s hand can be bandaged by one doctor…”
The doctors then dispersed, returning to their posts.
Ethan felt an inexplicable anxiety.
After settling Olivia, he went to the room the nurse had mentioned earlier.

Seeing that the person lying on the hospital bed wasn’t Rachel, he let out a huge sigh of relief.
When I opened my eyes, I was lying on a hospital bed. I learned about last night’s situation from the nurse.
Unable to reach anyone else, the nurse had called my most recent contact, Jason.
Jason quickly arrived at the hospital. Learning that all the doctors had been called away by Ethan to treat Olivia, the veins on his neck bulged as he struggled to control his anger.
He carried me to the nearest hospital, barely saving my hands.
Seeing me awake, Jason’s eyes were full of regret, “I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have let you go back to the Jiang family.
I moved my fingers slightly to tell him not to blame himself, that it was my choice to go back.
I looked up at the clock on the wall. It was already 9 AM. Soon I would be able to speak.
He found a wheelchair, saying he wanted to push me. I couldn’t help but laugh, showing him my perfectly fine legs. In the end, he gave up on
the idea.
Perhaps it really was a case of speaking of the devil, we ran into Ethan coming to get medicine on our way.
I didn’t want to have any more contact with him and pulled Jason to leave, but he suddenly said his stomach hurt and told me to go ahead.
I lowered my hat brim and quickly left.
When he arrived at the clinic, he was radiant, as if he had won a battle. I looked him up and down, making sure he wasn’t injured before I felt
relieved.
He had always been stubborn, and I knew I couldn’t persuade him, so I pretended not to know anything.
I sat to the side listening to him eloquently explain our relationship, unable to help but smile. The doctor was also annoyed by his talk and finally handed over the contract.
I slowly closed my eyes and fell into a deep sleep.
Jason watched me through the glass. The doctor walked up to him, taking a sip of water.
“What exactly is your relationship?”
“Friends.”
Then he added, “I like her.”
I opened my eyes to meet a pair of clear eyes. But he signed to me, [Are you feeling alright?]
I didn’t know why I could understand sign language, and instinctively asked, “Who are you?”
Although I didn’t recognize him, I felt he was a good person.
His face lit up with joy, the corners of his mouth unconsciously turning up, “Let me introduce myself. I’m your… friend, Jason.”
I wanted to grip his hand, but even the slightest movement sent pain through my hands. I couldn’t remember how I had been injured.
Just then, a message came through on my phone, [Rachel, after what you did to Olivia’s hands, don’t you have anything to say? Get back here and apologize right now!]
I found it puzzling and asked Jason if he knew this person.
