Chapter 4

I took two steps back, narrowly avoiding Jessica’s outstretched hand.
Eden leaned over and pulled at Jessica, sounding somewhat impatient. “Mom, the reporters are taking pictures. What are you doing here?”
Jessica glared at me with malice, spitting as she pointed and cursed. “She has been peeking at us from outside. I’m afraid she will get envious seeing us make money and ruin our good fortune.”
My death was merely a profitable opportunity for them.
Thinking of this, I sneered and took off my mask in front of Eden
and Jessica.
Eden’s previously impatient expression turned to disbelief upon seeing my face.
He trembled, pointing at me, and his eyes were wide with fear.
“How can it be you? Weren’t you supposed to be dead?”
Jessica’s fierce demeanor also changed the moment she saw me.
“You didn’t die? Who was that person on the bed?”

Then, she pushed me against the wall with a twisted expression.
“Why the hell are you still alive? You ruined my chance at one million dollars in insurance compensation.”
My back slammed against the wall, sending a sharp pain through me.
“Well, doesn’t my survival disappoint you?”
Eden stepped forward and tightly gripped my shoulders.
“I don’t care what tricks you used. Don’t think you can get my attention by faking your death. Let me tell you. I only love Serena. Even if you didn’t die, we are still going to divorce.”
Jessica, anxious, blocked Eden’s path, and her face twisted in anger so much that it looked like she could kill a fly.
“What about the million dollars in compensation?”
Seeing me resurrected, Eden and Jessica showed no signs of joy. They practically wished for my death just to receive that compensation.
Despite being mentally prepared, the irony of the scene still left me heartbroken.
The reporters, who had been filming Serena’s tragic state and praising Eden’s loyalty, rushed over as they heard our argument.
Chapter 4
“Isn’t that the injured person? Why does she look completely fine?”
“That can’t be right. His wife is here. Who is that on the bed?”

Before Jessica and Eden could respond, the frustrated insurance claims adjuster charged in angrily, pointing at Jessica while yelling, “The insured person is perfectly fine. Are you trying to commit insurance fraud with all this commotion? You shameless people, and you dare to demand a million dollars? Are you out of your mind?”
Hearing this, Jessica immediately became agitated, nearly spitting on the claims adjuster.
“Don’t slander me! I’m sure the person on the bed is Juliet. You must compensate me with one million dollars. Otherwise, I’ll have the reporters expose you.”
The claims adjuster was almost amused by Jessica’s unreasonable behavior. He pulled out documents from his briefcase and displayed them to the reporters.
“Look at this compensation document. The insured’s name is Juliet. This is her photo. And this lady right here.”
