Chapter 74
TARA
I hadn’t felt like this in a long time. Like all the problems in the world just faded away and all that was left was peace.
Aidan asked us if we wanted to eat, and even if Nadia hadn’t been the first to oblige, I didn’t think I was going to object.
After being gifted a full trunk of gifts, we had a fun evening with Aidan, and when Nadia’s strength reserve started to run low, we took her back home to Esme’s where both she and Jenna were waiting. Too bad Nadia would be out in a couple of hours, and movie night would be just for Esme and Jenna.
So this errand you’re running, am I allowed in on what it is?” Aidan asked as he steered the wheel past the houses. We were heading away from our home now.
“About that…” I drawled. The cat had to come out of the bag eventually. “I’m just getting the last of Nadia’s things from her room at your place. We moved back home.”
He didn’t try to hide his disappointment in the way his face fell or the way his muscles loosened on the wheel.
“I didn’t want you guys to move out, Tara, Aidan said, expressing his displeasure. “Is this about our fight the last time? I’m sorry, Tara.”
“No, Aidan. No. It’s not. It’s just at this point, we’re giving desperate chicks by still being there. The crisis from the last few weeks has been completely taken care of, so we definitely had to go back home. It doesn’t mean we’re on bad terms. I don’t think I’d be letting you drive me around town by this time if we were,” I said genuinely.
Aidan’s eyes only found me for a second before he turned back to
are both one hundred percent safe if you’re not where I can see
A silent chuckle escaped my lips, but I said nothing of it. “You head of us. “I’m the desperate one, and I don’t care. How can I know that you
can see
at
our home whenever you want, Aidan, okay?”
I could tell he wasn’t entirely happy, but he nodded either way. “Fine
The rest of the drive was in silence, and I occasionally stole glances at Aidan while mind went in a thousand different directions.
Aidan helped me inside, and once in the kitchen, he shrugged off his jacket, revealing his muscular arms, and heat started to crawl up my back, settling in all the wrong places.
Without a word, I turned in the direction of Nadia’s room. Best get this over with since it seemed like Aidan was going to be sticking around.
It wasn’t even a surprise when I got to Nadia’s door and Aidan was right behind me. His scent enveloped every inch of the space even though he had only been here for minutes.
He spoke before I could go inside and shut the door.
‘Listen, Tara. No matter what, I’m going to be here to protect the two of you, okay? Whatever you need me for, I’ll be that with no questions asked.”
Aidan was so close to me now that my hackles were being raised. He was doing an unfair number on me with all that talk of us being safe and him protecting us. I wasn’t thinking straight, except for the one second where I looked at Aidan and I saw a splitting image of the only man I had ever fallen in love with.
Blood pounded so hard in my ears, and I didn’t try to fight it when my toes leaned on itself, pushing me up to Aidan’s height.
1 wrapped my hands around his neck and sealed his lips with mine, cutting off his incoming protest.
He felt like everything I remembered him to be, only better.
I kissed Aidan like he was my lifeline, and without him, I could die. When his hands found my hips and pulled me further into him, I melted.
It was perfect.
A moan slipped out from my throat, but Aidan trapped it just as quickly as he had trapped me since the moment I laid eyes on him,
A realization hit me.
I was falling in love with Aidan Graham all over again.
I pulled back from him sharply with a gasp, and my fingers immediately came up to my tingling lips. Aidan was panting, and so was I. His eyes were

blown out, completely dark with arousal, and with the way he stared at me hungrily, I was sure I looked no different.
“Please excuse me, I blurted and immediately turned my back to Aidan, shutting the door between us.
Why did I do that!?
I freaking kissed him.
It was only now that I began to picture how I was also frantically rubbing myself against Aidan like a freaking she–wolf on heat.
“Why did you do that, Tara?”
Was I on heat?
My body was practically burning up now, and the room had started to spin around my head. I was literally burning up, but it didn’t feel like a panic
attack.
My hand came up to my head, and yes, past the beads of sweat covering my forehead, I was burning from inside out.
I needed to cool down.
Thankfully, Aidan wasn’t in the hallway when I opened the door, so I quickly made it to the next room, mine, and searched the closet. I found a decent pair of what I was looking for, and I quickly threw it on.
“I need a swim, or I’ll die of a heat stroke.”
Making my way to the swimming pool that I hadn’t gone near in the weeks that we spent in Aidan’s house, I didn’t even look around before I jumped
inside.
The cold water bit my skin immediately, but that was exactly what I needed.
It took me close to fifteen minutes before my temperature came down to a reasonable degree.
“This is stupid,” I muttered, and I pulled myself out of the water.
I dried my body with a towel and made my way back to my room. I would just go home and come back another day.
I was facing the door, and my swimwear was halfway down my legs when a rapid knock sounded on the door. I couldn’t move fast enough before the door flung open, and Aidan’s head popped in.
“Tara, are you…”
I spun around as my hand simultaneously flew up to cover the part of me that was most insecure about, but it was too late.
Aidan saw me.
He saw my scars.
