I could only avoid Jenna’s persistent questioning for so long with the excuse that I was tired after last night, to which she mocked the hell out of me, but it was better than admitting that 1 slept with the man I’d been avoiding for so many years and that I feared it was something more.
The next day at the diner, it caught up with me, and I could not evade lenna’s curiosity anymore.
Tara was on her makeshift playground behind the diner, the one that Aidan had come in with “reinforcements to make safer for her to play in, so I kind
of ran out of excuses to give Jenna.
“You’re seriously going to make me beg and grovel at your feet for the scraps, Tara? Is this what we have become? I thought we were more than this,” Jenna, spoke, trying to get me to talk through her attempt at blackmail…or in this case, friendmail
“You don’t even like him, Jen,” 1 defended. “Why do you want to hear what happened?”
Jenna feigned offense. “I’m only wary of him and watching his moves so he doesn’t have the chance to hurt you again. Doesn’t mean I’m not interested in the hot details of what’s transpired between you and the sexy as fuck Alpha.”
With a chuckle and a sigh, I gave in, telling her as much as I could without revealing the more intimate details. I barely managed to keep the squeak off voice, and the blush off my cheeks as 1 spoke.
“And he asked me to dinner today, and I’m totally not freaking out about how my stomach would look in whatever I’m going to find in my closet,” I said when I was done narrating the ordeal between me and Aidan to jenna who couldn’t wipe the teasing smirk off her face. “Stop smiling like that, Jenna, it’s dreadful,” I said, turning my attention from her, and moving into the small storeroom of the diner.
She came along, speaking.
“What? I can’t help it. I’m just happy that he’s treating you so good, and putting the D in you so good too! Go, hoe!” She actually whooped
“Goddess, Jenna!” I yelled, unable to hold back my cackle as 1 burst into a fear of laughter that almost got me doubling over on the floor.
My cheeks were so red from blushing so hard, I needed to take my mind off this embarrassing conversation with Jenna. I began to make a mental note of what our menu would look like in the coming month.
After last night with Aidan, I began to reminisce on the number of other things that I hadn’t experienced since the whole incident surrounding Nadia’s birth, and I felt a wave of homesickness that kept me awake till the early hours of the morning, I wasn’t going to lie. I missed my home.
So I decided to include one of our local pastries in the diners menu for next month. Retrieving my jotter and pen from the pouch of my apron, I wrote down some ingredients that I’d be needing, and made a mental note of the items to stock up.
Jenna pulled me back to reality when I heard her voice slicing through my thoughts
“So, what now? Between you and Mr. Good Dick.”
I pressed a thumb and forefinger between my eyes in exhaustion. “Jenna, you’re making me regret telling you any of this. You had better let it go before Nadia showed up, or you’ll have to explain some uncomfortable topics to her, and I won’t help you out.”
Jenna blew a raspberry at me, and gestured to her last question.
“I don’t know,” I shrugged. “Let me find a way to get through this date without messing things up, and we’ll see where it goes.”
“And Nadia?” She asked, her eyes softening around the edges at the mention of my sunshine’s name.

Warmth filled my heart at the family I was surrounded with, and truthfully, I couldnt have asked for a better

“Thank you, Jenna,” I said truthfully, and she nodded, sensing that I meant gratitude in more than just her input on what was going on with me currently.
“Always, T.”
In a few hours, Nadia was sorted for the rest of the day, and 1 had spent an ungodly amount of time putting on and taking off dresses for my and Aidan’s date.
Nothing fit me to my liking. They were either too casual or too much for just a date.
What the heck was wrong with me!
My bed was a pile of mess, and I only had a few other options to choose from, so I ended up settling on a knee–length suede gown and high boots, exposing only a little of my skin while showing off all the generous curves gifted to me by motherhood, I curled my hair and let it down my back, settling on some mascara, eyeliner, and some dark lip combo.
I looked younger, and felt more confident, and I was happy with this choice,
Just then, my phone beeped with a message from Aidan, letting me know that he was outside, so I rounded things off with my perfume, and went ahead
meet him.
When Aidan’s masculine frame came into view, my steps almost faltered. He looked…dashing!
I forced myself to look past his perfect outfit and handsomeness because the urge to rip his clothes from his body was becoming too hard for me to ignore, and I focused on the bouquet he held out to me instead.
“You look so good, Tara,” he said, closing the distance between us, and dipping his chin to me for a peck, causing a flock of butterflies to swim in my stomach
Accepting the flowers with my thanks, I swallowed.
“You look handsome too,” I supplied, and I caught his smile.
“Ready?” He asked, gesturing to his car, and I nodded.
