Chapter 90
TARA
My mom had insisted we spend the night with thems after already staying over four hours there, which honestly felt like minutes with how much laughter and crying we did, but I politely refused, mostly because Dad’s attitude didn’t yield the whole night.
Mom offered to clean my old room and set it up for me and Nadia, claiming that they had barely touched anything since after that night, and even if Nadia was excited about the idea, I didn’t want to be back in the space just yet.
I promised that we would show up again tomorrow to take off where we left, even going as far as making plans to spend the day in the kitchen, all the of us–me, Mom, and Nadia- before Mom finally agreed to let us leave.
My gratefulness to the goddess knew no bounds. It hadn’t even been a complete day, and my heart was already lighter as everything was beginning to fall into place,
And more than anything else, I found myself wanting to share the good news first with Aidan, and I was surprised that it didn’t take hours of second- guessing and overthinking for me to put a call through to him.
His voice was gruff from the other side of the line.
“Hello, Aldan, is this a bad time? I tried to keep the excitement off my voice to not reveal too much as I spoke.
“Not at all. How did it go with your parents?”
Looking down at Nadia who was still pumped with energy, I responded. “Not bad. Can we talk about it over some food? We’re back at your place, and I found some ingredients enough to make something light,” I said, hope blooming in my chest, even though it was way too late for such an invitation.
“Ill be there in a few minutes, was Aidan’s reply, and a silly little smile crept up my cheeks.
Just as he said, Aidan was here before we knew it, and he and Nadia were together in the expansive living room as I whipped up a quick dinner for us three. Whenever I would peek at them from the kitchen, my heart would swell almost to the point of bursting, and seeing how perfect it all was, was what made me decide to do it there.
I’d set up the plates, and we were well into the meal when I narrated how it went with my parents, and how surprised I was to see that Mom still had a lot of energy in her, even if her ailment still lingered.
“My dad was the same though. He still looked at me with such disappointment in his eyes, and I can’t begin to imagine the things that ran through his head when he looked at Nadia. I could barely pick out what it was, but it wasn’t a gaze of love or longing like the one my mom had on her the entire time. It was even guilt,” I found myself telling Aidan.
After only a brief pause, he spoke.
“I can only imagine it was a very shocking experience for him to see you form out of nowhere after almost a decade of being gone. It could be that he was battling his feelings about the whole situation, and I bet that it’s only a matter of time before he comes around. It’s impossible not to love you two.” Aldan said, his gaze momentarily shifting onto Nadia, before returning back to me.
There was no mistaking the feelings behind Aidan’s words. His eyes were like a mirror to his heart, showling him to tie bare,
I could only nod as I didn’t know the right thing to say.
The rest of the evening was perfect. Beyond perfect, which was why as we cozled up on the couch alter dinner, enjoying each other’s warmth from the little distance that separated us, with Nadia living in her own bubble with her drawing books on the soft–rigged floor just below where we sat, it felt right to My out loud.
“We should tell her, Aidan.”
Aidan’s eyes fell from the TV to take me in, and as his eyes watched me, I let myself get loose in his charm.
“Tell her what?” Aidan asked, confused.
My voice was even as I spoke. “That you on her father, Aidan. She deserves to know that she’s loved enough that her Dad came back for her, has been a part of her life, and wants to be in it for much longer. You deserve to freely be able to call her daughter without the fear that she won’t understand Don
I hoped I was right about slut I just said, but it was the truth. No child deserved to not know their parents.

Aidan sat up in his seat, no doubt shocked by my admission. He ran a hand through his hair and over his face before letting out a deep breath, nodding. “You think this is the right time? It won’t be a good idea to overwhelm her.”
My smile widened at the thought that even upon Aidan getting what he wanted since the moment he set eyes on her, his concern was still on her well being and making sure that she was mentally prepared
I nodded though. “Since now is the season of reunions, I think it’s the perfect time. Besides, some part of her already knows, so this is just ripping the band–aid off.
Aidan’s eyes held a lot of emotions as he spoke. “Thank you, Tara. 1-1 appreciate you doing this.”
Keeping my smile and ready to take the step, I turned to face her. Our child.
“Nadia honey, would you come here for a minute?” I asked, and she grumbled a response before pushing herself off the floor from her lounging position. and shuffling her feet toward me.
Ruffling her hair and forcing my now racing heart to calm down, I looked to Aidan to see if he was ready. When his no came, I spoke.
Before I did, I said a quick word of prayer to the Moon goddess, hoping that this would be an extension of the new beginnings that had already marked the day.
