Chapter 10
ROLAND
“Oh my goodness, Mr. Jordan is Aubrey’s father?!” Melissa blurted in shock while the rest of the guests cheered for the Jordan family as they elegantly strode into the party.
My hear thumped like it wanted to break free from my chest and I felt bubbles of regret explode inside of me as the cheering continued. Her golden brown hair shone brighter in my eyes than I last remembered. Her lip gloss glistened her lips in a fashion that made my mind entertain thoughts of kissing her. And her smile, it easily enchanted me. Was it because I hadn’t seen her in a long time or her beauty was as comparable to
the moon’s?
“You didn’t tell me you were working for THE Jordan family. I retorted.
“How was I supposed to know Aubrey is his daughter? I barely know anything about Aubrey!”
I hissed. I shouldn’t have come to this party tonight. How was I supposed to deal with the tension when her family finally notices me at the party! But this was the least of my concerns, why was my heart suddenly racing for Aubrey? Why was my wolf delighted to see her!!
“It’s best we steer clear from their family if we don’t want any drama tonight.” I said but before Melissa could even respond, a guest called her, pulling us into a conversation. But all through, I barely listened. My skin was shivering in anxiety and I craved to steal glances at my ex–wife but I couldn’t Melissa was meticulously watching me.
“Doctor M!” Another person called and as we turned to face the person, my breaths ceased seeing Aubrey stand beside Mr. Reeds. My thoughts fried and I lost my tongue as she called my name
“Roland…” An awkward silence struck between us like lightning Meeting her after so long made me realize she was the missing piece I’ve been yearning for all these months.
“Do you three know each other?” Mr. Reeds asked.
“Of course! If it isn’t Melissa and her loving partner,” she wore a sarcastic smile. The very woman who was so helpless back then when I divorced her was now standing before me with pride and confidence.
“Then I guess I should leave you three to catch up then,” Mr. Reeds said before walking away
“Should I say it’s good to see you two?” She muttered.
*I didn’t know your
your father
owns Jordan Hospital,” I finally found my tongue.
“It’s a shocker for me as well, the number one doctor in my father’s hospital is the Alpha’s mate,” she huffed.
“Should I be expecting to get sacked soon?” Melissa sneered.
“I’m not that petty, What happened is in the past now. Life happens.” She smiled but I couldn’t tell if she was being sarcastic or not. “How’s Jeremy doing! I hope he’s well.”
“He is,” Melissa chirped while Roland just kept looking at me,
“Aubrey!” My eyes darted to the man who came to join her. He curled his arm around her waist and I watched in absolute pain and rage as my ex- wife bramed at him. Who the hell was this man?! And how dare he touch her like that?! Wait Why was I even bothered this much about her, it’s not like she was mine or something yet I couldn’t stomach my disgust for this man. Was I falling for her again! Hell! My mate is right beside me but here I was entrapped by the allure of my ex–wife.
“Tve been waiting for y
you, I thought you weren’t going to make it,” he beamed at her and deep down I knew he secretly wanted to kiss her.
“I promised you, didn’t I?” Aubrey replied.
“By the way, you look ravishing tonight,” he commented and she giggled. My jaw clenched and my palm almost curled into a fist in my pocket.
“At least you kept your hair tidied up tonight, she chirped.
“If that is your w
r way of com
complimenting how handsome I look tonight, then thank you, Mademoiselle.”
I lost control of my emotions that I didn’t realize when I suddenly cleared my throat, trying hard to contain my anger. It made me wonder, why was To bothered about this man?
“Oh Doctor MI” The man toned, finally paying attention to us. “I see you two have already met.”
Aubrey and Melissa hummed at the same time.

Chapter 10
“Please meet Alpha Roland of Silverline Valley Pack, my mate, Melissa gestured to me and only then did he put me
me in his line of vision.
“Really, you’ve got quite the prize for a mate there, Doctor M. I’m Damien.” He extended his hand for a handshake but I refused to let my hand leave my pocket
“He’s my ex–husband,” Aubrey interjected and Damien frowned. He peered at her with disbelief but she asserted her statement with a nod.
Damien then looked at me and boy never have I seen rage fester like this in the eyes of a man for me before. It wasn’t glaringly obvious but looking closely, I could tell he despised me to the core. His hand suddenly dropped and returned to his pocket. The awkward silence between us was so powerful that even the sound of a pin drop could be heard among us..
“Well, this was quite the meeting but I’m afraid I have to take my lady with me. I’m her boyfriend for the night, I should enjoy every moment I can get to spend with her, right?” He told me with a smile so fakel
“Do enjoy your night, Alpha Roland, Doctor M. Aubrey, shall we?” He extended his arm and Aubrey eagerly intertwined her arm with his. She didn’t even give me one last look before leaving
My eyes refused to peel off her as she mingled with a few dignitaries with the bastard by her side. Looking around, it was enough to conclude she was the star of the night. I could easily note the hungry passion these men had for her. How much they wished to be by her side instead of Damien. Thet she knew too but she handled the attention effortlessly. She was the Queen and we were nothing but the onlookers who could only dream of a reality that would never exist.
This woman used to be my wife! How could I have lost such a gem!
If I had known. I wouldn’t have come here,” I said.
“Are you bothered by her?” Melissa asked. “We could leave if you want”
I wriggled my head. “I’m staying. Leaving would only give her victory. She would think she won.”
“I think she’s already winning, you can’t seem to take your eyes off her,” Melissa replied with anger subtly hinting in her voice.
“I need some air,” I cleared my throat and walked away but I made sure to keep watch over Aubrey’s every move, waiting for the time when she would be alone. Thankfully Melissa was engulfed in her conversations with one of the executives, so I wouldn’t have to deal with her watchful eyes.
Soon Aubrey began to walk alone to the lakeside and I stealthily followed after her. She remained by the lakeside with her glass of champagne in between her fingers. I adjusted my suit jacket even though it needed none before joining her by the side.
She glanced at me and then took a sip of her drink like I wasn’t present in the first place,
“So you and Damien are a thing now?” I mumbled
“We’re close,” was all she said. A tone that signaled she wasn’t interested in taking the conversation further.
“How close?”
“And why should I answer that?”
I cleared my throat.
“I don’t see a ring on your finger nor did I see one on her finger as well,” she commented after a while. “Aren’t you two married yet!”
“I’ve been busy with work.”
She hummed.
“We’ll get married soon, Fadded.
“May the moon goddess bless your union,” she replied and was about to leave,
“I don’t like lum!” I didn’t know when the words left my mouth but I didn’t regret it for a second.
She glared at the.
“Damien. I hate it the way he holds you.”
“You should be grateful that I didn’t kick you out of this party. I hope you still have some logic and self–respect after those atrocious words of yours” She replied and was about to leave again but I sped to her, holding her wrist back, She rewarded me with an even greater hateful glare.
Why did I even make such a move? But most importantly, I felt a spark just holding her alone. One so sweet that I’d never even experienced it with Melissa in a long time.

“Let go!” She growled but my hand refused to yield to her words.
“Didn’t you hear her?” Damien growled from a distance. I frowned and he sped to us in a blink. His eyes turned golden yellow as he forcefully pulled my hand away from her wrist.
“An Alpha who doesn’t have respect for boundaries. I pity for your Pack members,” he blurted,
“How dare you?!” My eyes turned a threatening shade of red
