AUBREY
“You are from Silver Crescent Pack” I queried sharply as Damien drove through the territory gates of the Pack.
“Yes,” he beamed at me and my eyes further exclaimed in surprise at him. “What?” he asked with slight laughter, minting
“What happened to ‘my Pack is just a small one and I’m basically a nobody in there?“”
with his word.
He simply laughed it off.
“It’s not funny, Damien. Silver Crescent Pack is one of the most powerful Parks that has been in existence since ancient times!”
“Yup!” he nodded.
“And you hid that from me?!”
I mean It’s not a big deal,” he shrugged.
“Being a member of such a respected Pack is a big deal! You do realize that many werewolves would kill just to be a member of this Pack. Just who exactly are you? It feels like I don’t even know you at all.”
“You know me well more than most people in my life.”
“Yeah” I dryly remarked sarcastically.
“I wanted to surprise you,” he grinned at me and I rolled my eyes. “We’ve known each other for so long, you know about my Pack so what was e the need for the element of surprise?”
“Are you mad at me?” he pouted and I couldn’t help but giggle. “I’m sorry. There’s a reason I keep my identity hidden.”
1 sported a quizzical look.

“Most of the people in my life are simply there because of what I have and not who I am. I grew tired of that rhythm which is why I moved to the human world. A place 1 could start afresh where no one knows me, where I can build solid relationships with meaning and not one born solely for the selfish desire of benefits.”
I hummed. “And how has it been going so far?”
He peered at me for a long while. “I met you”
My heart lost its rhythm, thumping hard like it could break free from my chest anytime soon. These days, I’ve been finding myself wandering deeper into the sparkle of his eyes. I quickly cleared my throat before I started entertaining more forbidden thoughts.
“You never miss
miss any opportunity to flirt with me.
“I wasn’t flirting. I meant it,” he responded. “Maybe you are already falling for me.”
I rolled my eyes, “you wish”
He smiled and while he focused on the steering I lowered my window’s glass to enjoy the night’s view. The moon was particularly bright, casting its radiant beam on the tall trees we drove by. I breathed in relief as the winds gently breezed past me and my eyes gradually shut, enjoying the tranquil peace that set in.
“How does it feel to be back in a Pack!” He asked
“Feels like home, I could use a walk though, it would be perfect,” I responded and he parked the car by the sideway. I wore a puzzled look. “Come on,” he cocked his head to the side. “I could use a stroll too.
“What about your father’s party? We’ll be late for it

“I’m sure the old man is enjoying himself quite well wishout me,” he unbuckled his seat belt. “Come on, what are you waiting.
I unbuckled my seat belt too and as I alighted from the car, I was graced with the serenity of Silver Crescent, the hooting of owls coupled with the howls of wolves in the woods afar off were the music that graced my ears. I imagined shifting into my white wolf, breeze streamlining across my furs as my jaws trotted on the loany grounds mixed with dried leaves.
The wind though gentle carried a cold wave that I couldn’t help but rub my arms together. I should have brought a jacket with me considering the black backless evening dress I wore. These silver heels weren’t even fashioned for walking as well. It was almost like the forces of nature were against

I giggled about collecting the sneakers but he refused my hand. Instead, he knelt with one of his knees.
“Damien. “I gasped.
“May 1” He asked and I gave a slight nod. He slowly lifted my gown before his hand curled around my ankle. My breaths escaped shakily and my skin shuuddered from his warm touch. They were tender just like his affection for me. I couldn’t see the gaze in his eyes as he loosened my strap and held my foot like a cherished egg but I could tell he had hast beaming in those eyes, And I would be lying to myself if I said I wasn’t excited by that thought alone.
“Have Lever told you that I’m scared of raccoons?” He said,
“Raccoons?!” I burst into laughter. “A werewolf like you, they should be terrified of you, not the other way around”
“On my seventh birthday, my friends thought it was wise to play a prank on me. They placed my favorite cake in the fridge and I opened it only to see a raccoon having the time of its life with my cake”
I held onto my stomach trying to

“I guess I should be your knight tonight, just in case we come across a raccoon. I mumbled while I collected my heels from him. He grinned but then he drew closer to me that our breaths collided and I feared he might hear my heart pounding harder than usual.
He pulled off has suit jacket and wore it around my shoulders. My breaths ceased as our distance apart grew thinner. My defenses grew weak. peering at those eyes that sparkled and the only air I could breathe was the scent of his enticing cologne. I should be stopping myself from getting lost in the moment but my eyes wavered to his lips. Red with a tiny smile that graced them. The lines on them were like chants beckoning me to kiss them and enjoy their succulence.

“What!” 1 stuttered, oblivious of when he had taken steps backward from me. I cleared my throat and his smile deepened before we sauntered into the woods. We walked side by side for several minutes in silence but rather than embrace nature like I planned originally, my mind was more muddled with thoughts about Damien. Tired of brushing hands with him, I intertwined my left hand with his right. He gasped, shock painted all
over his face.
“Don’t overthink it.” I toned shyly, making sure not to lock eyes with him. “It’s pretty cold out here, take it as sharing warmth with you.”
He grinned at our hands. “One step at a time?”
I grinned to: “One step at a time
We spent close to an hour touring the woods before we finally arrived at the
he gigantic hall. As the guards positioned by the double doors pushed it open, all eyes fell on us and these people who were chattering before suddenly stopped. The silence was overwhelmingly loud and it was enough to tell me that I probably didn’t know Damien as much as 1 thought.
“Dannen “I whispered beside him. “Is it just me or are these people staring at us more than necessary?”
“There’s one more thing I’ve been hiding from you,” he whispered close to my ear.
“Please don’t tell me you are a billionaire her with an insane amount of influence in the Pack,” I replied, still retaining my gaze on the guests.
“Will you freak out if I told you I was more?”
“What I glanced at him and I shot me a smile but before he could say anything an old man suddenly blared.

I would recognize that voice anywhere. Alpha Stephien, Alpha of Silver Crescent Pack. I know him because Roland and I had visited this Pack in our first year of marriage to strike a partnership with him. Both of us faced the direction the voice came from and the guests parted ways so we could
