Chapter 20
MELISSA
How was this possible! Freya would never betray me, I’m sure these were the thoughts that currently roamed Roland’s mind as his eyes wavered about angrily on the marble floor with the DNA test result squeezed in his hand. If it wasn’t for my informant, by now I would be neck deep into big trouble. It took all I had in me not to laugh at Freya and Simon’s perplexed faces and I had to keep pretending that I was hurt and shattered by Roland’s brirayal.
“Thank you. Doctor Owen I softly toned while tears flowed out of my eyes like a gentle river. “Thank you for saving my son and me from these false allegations. I will forever be grateful to you
“Always, Luna.” Doctor Owen answered with a gentle smile.
“I’m not Luna yet, frankly, I don’t think I ever would,” I wiped my tears off while everyone turned to me in horrific awe except Roland who remained conflicted in his thoughts.
“Why would you say that, my dear! Alpha Roland is your mate, no one is going to steal your rightful title from you,” One of the Pack Chiefs said.
“My loyalty, trust, and love, were questioned by my mate, I stared directly at Roland who didn’t even bother to look at me. “It makes me
wonder, maybe our bond is not as deep as I thought. Sometimes, I think his heart lies somewhere else. He yearns for someone that isn’t me.”
Mrs. Robertson came to meet me, her hands cupped around my cheeks and her gaze met mine. “Roland belongs to you and no one else, Melissa she asserted but we both knew she was just being deceitful. She just didn’t want to accept the truth I’d long accepted ago, that Roland still years for Aubrey
“Maybe but I’ve made up my mind, I’m leaving this Pack.”
She gasped.
“I’m sorry, Mother, but I can’t stay in a place where I’m not
ot valued. I was fine with raising Jeremy by myself, I can always do that again.”
Roland finally glanced at me but he didn’t even have the expression I was looking for. He was simply stoic. I at least expected him to fight for me, to tell me how much of a fool he was and apologetic for his action, to tell me that he didn’t want me to leave.
“It hasn’t gotten to this. Melissa,” another Pack Chief said. “Issues happen in relationships and take it that this is just one of them.”
“Indeed,” another Pack Chief remarked. “It’s never easy being Luna, Melissa. You and Roland will constantly face many odds, your love for each other will be tested but you mustn’t waver because you two need each other till the end of time, Alpha Roland is your better half just like you are to
I hope that you both can learn a lesson or two from this incident and build an even stronger bond that the enemy would never be able to break.”
“And while we are learning a lesson or two, we must not forget to punish the guilty one,” Mrs. Robertson chirped, glaring at Freya. “What happened today is an insult to the Alpha’s family. Never in our history has the paternity of the Alpha’s heir been questioned but today. Freya has made our family name an object of mockery!
And all for what? So she can avenge her friend, Aubrey Jonlin”
d what I saw and I still stand by the authenticity of
“Queen Meranda, I swear with my life I had no hidden agenda against Melissa. I simply reported- my results.
“Shut up! Roland bellowed at
d at her.
Finally! I’ve been waiting for him to snap.
“Roland_Simon called, anxiety looming in his voice. “You know Freya, she wouldn’t scheme such a thing.”
“I’ve known her long enough that she would do anything to stand by her friend, Aubrey. Even if that means deliberately falsifying results so my bond with Melissa would be in chaos”
Freya’s eyes glistened.
“What if she made a mistake? We can never tell until we have a thorough investigation”
“Isn’t it obvious Right from time, Freya hates Melissa and has not been discreet about it! So tell me, what investigation is there to carry out?” “You’re the Alpha! Holand, fairness is your duty?”
“I understand your pain, Simon. Freya is your mate after all but you are right too, I’m the Alpha and fairness is my duty,” he pursed his lips as he looked at us. “I made a declaration earlier that whoever was the guilty one. I would mercilessly deal with the person”

He locked eyes with me and then exhaled deeply. “Melissa is innocent.”
He then turned to Freya. “Freya Allan, you are guilty of disrupting the peace of the Alpha’s home, falsifying the medical reports of Jeremy Robertson which explicitly goes against the ethics of your profession and the Pack laws. My Pack is under fire because of you, your actions are far 100 great to be forgiven.
I will use you as an example to people who dare to harbor evil against my Pack and family. Contempt will not be tolerated here in Silverline Valley
Freya Allan, you are immediately stripped of your title as the Pack Doctor and every other privilege attached to your person. You will be publicly executed in three days!”
“Alpha Roland!”
“Roland!”
Simon and Freya blared in shock at the same time.
“Guards!!!” Roland yelled and five men instantly trooped in. “Arrest Freya”
Touch her and I will rip you to shreds!!” Simon barked at the guards who hesitated
“I don’t care that he’s the Beta, beat him up if you have to. Freya must be arrested!” Roland asserted.
“Roland you can’t do this!! Freya is my mate!!” Simon held Roland’s shoulders restlessly. “Killing her is like ending my life! You can give her other punishment, punish us both if you will but not death. Not death, Roland! She’s my world! I can’t live without her!
I’ll do anything! Anything you want! Please just spare her! Spare her. Roland!!”
Roland glanced at me again. In a million years I never would have thought my mate was this ruthless, 1 expected him to banish her from the Pack or something but never the death sentence
Roland brushed his friend’s hands off him.
“My order will be duly followed, Simon.” He reiterated icily before walking past us and threaded up the stairs.
The guards moved to Freya and Simon had gotten into a brawl with them but I focused my attention on Roland who kept climbing the stairs as if nothing was happening. I should be happy that Freya would be gotten rid of for good but instead, I was terrified. If Roland could be so ruthless to his longtime friend, Freya, what would he do to me when he finds out the truth?
