Chapter 25
“I can’t believe I’m back here.” I said as the driver drove into the Pack House compound of Silverline Valley. “It’s been more than a year now yet it still feels like everything happened yesterday” My right hand curled into a fist while my eyes glued to the window watching Roland’s men assemble in an orderly fashion. Bring Luna for three years I was accustomed to this kind of arrangement. When we had an important guest visiting us, the security details were slightly heavy but this time, something was off. Their numbers were much larger than usual as if they were subtly preparing
for war in case it broke out
Damien placed his hand on my curled hand, I turned to him and there it was, his endearing smile printed on his lips. “If you’re not up for it, let me handle this
I shook my head, “I’m here for Freya and I’m going to save

He nodded slightly. “Do you miss this place!”

have some level of attachment to this place.
He hummed. “I won’t hurt your Pack members, I promise.”
I touched the back of his hand with my left hand. Tm more worried about you. You almost ripped Roland to shreds at the park. I don’t want you to lose yourself, Damien
“Yes I hate him but you are my priority and nothing is going to make me lose sight of that. We came here to save Freya and we will do just that”
I exhaled deeply with a nod following suit. The car came to a gentle halt a few meters a away from the building and one of the guards came to open the door for us. As my heel graced the concrete floor and my head pecked out of the house, I was instantly haunted by memories of the past and a fresh wave of sadness hit me. I used to lord over this place alongside Roland, now I was nothing but a reluctant visitor.
“Is that Aubrey?”
“What is she
she doing here!”
Were among the few words I heard the guards mumbling amongst themselves while 1 peered at the majestic white mansion standing before me.
“Are you sure about this, Aubrey?” Damien asked again beside me but before I could answer, the mansion’s door opened and my heartbeat lost its rhythm as Roland strode outside.
A frown immediately dawned on his face seeing us together. Judging from how unhinged he was last time at the park, I knew it was only a matter of time before his rage exploded in him.
“Shall we?” Damien extended his left arm to me, I frowned slightly at him, intertwining my arm with him was deliberately taunting Roland and now that we are in his Pack, blood could flow. But Damien shot me a warm smile as if he had understood my thoughts.
“Do you trust me?” He asked silently.
“Do you even have to ask?” I grinned and locked arms with him on impulse.
“Then let’s take this as just another day’s job.”
“You are a medical doctor and I’m a free bird, this is not another day’s job, Damien,” I smirked and he chuckled.
I’m representing my
father today as the Alpha and you” his lips paused while his eyes sparkled with passion for me. “You are my pretend Luna.”
1 giggled and for reasons I knew not, my heart fluttered hearing that from him.
“Now, shall we?”
I hummed and we both proceeded to meet the devil waiting
ing for us with eyes that angrily bore holes into us. He was especially focused on Damien and I’s intertwined ammis. Only a blind man would not notice his desire to separate us.
“I was expecting Alpha Stephen, not the two of your Roland blurted, making sure his disgust was well–tuned in his voice.

Roland inched closer. “You do realize that you are in my Pack, logic might be far from you but I at least kind of words you use.
“No wonder you filled your compound to the brim with your men.”
“Your father did explicitly pass a message to me yesterday. Get ready for war. As an Alpha, 1 do not take those words with levity.
Damien scoffed. “I was the one who relayed that message, I guess your people are that incompetent like their Alpha.”
Roland growled.
“Can we not do this today?” I finally intervened and both of them focused on me. “Let’s just get to the order of business.”
“And what business might that be, huh?” He quipped back. “Last I recalled, you haven’t given me an answer regarding my proposal and the fact that you are still with this idiot can only mean you have decided to foolishly continue with your rebellion! How could you choose this dunce over your best friend?! Are you that desperate to be Luna of Silver Crescent?”
“Hey!” Damien snapped.
“Yes! I’m that desperate, happy now?!” I blared. “It’s a million times better than returning to your rotten Pack! And as for Freya? 1 came here for her. I am nothing like you, who disrespects familial ties to satisfy your selfish desires.
I told you before, I won’t be manipulated by you. I would rather kill myself than dream of sharing the same space as you. You can never have me, Roland, not in any lifetime,”
“And what makes you think I will release that traitor to you?” He sneered.
“Why do you think I’m here?” Damien interjected.
“To play a knight in shining armor!” Roland mockingly retorted.
“Release Freya and maybe Silver Crescent will be kind enough not to break the alliance we have with your Pack Damien stated. Roland’s eyes wavered to me and I dearly hoped he wouldn’t be so stubborn–headed.
“And what I refuse?”
“Get ready for war.” Damien asserted. “Silver Crescent will break its alliance with you, we will no longer do any business together. We will enforce that every Pack that we share alliances with will also blacklist your Pack from any form of business or partnership. You will be considered a top–tier enemy to Silver Crescent and to the Packs we share alliances with. There will be no avenue for forgiveness as we are nothing but lifelong foes.”
Roland’s fists clenched. It was clear as the ocean in his eyes how shaken he was. For the first time, I saw someone clip Roland’s wings. I should have felt good seeing him in a powerless position but instead, I was slightly bothered. Why?! First, it was his kiss, and now this!
The look in Damien’s eyes was enough to tell us he meant every word. I wavered to Roland and pondered what decision he was going to make.
