“All that is left now is for you to become Luna now that Jeremy is getting better,” Mrs. Robertson chartered in Jeremy’s wardroom as she gently padded my son’s back in her arms with a joyous smile. A sad smile crept to my lips instead, I should be taking this as good news but I knew better that Roland’s mind was already filled with the tunes of another woman
“What’s wrong, my darling?” she asked with her brows arched in a worried fashion. “Is it still about what Roland did regarding the whole DNA
issue!”
I inhaled deeply and wriggled my head slowly. There is always a connection between every mate, Mother, but I think Roland and I are gradually losing that bond”
“Melissa” she shot me an endearing smile but it lacked the essence of comfort that I needed or maybe I just couldn’t find it. “A lot has happened in the past few days, tension is at an all–time high, all eyes are on you and Roland. It must be hard for you both to navigate through this situation.”
I sighed.
“But if there’s one thing I know for certain, no one else is fit to be Silverline Valley’s Luna other than you.”
Of course! I had already given in too much to lose at this point. Whatever it takes, I am going to be Luna
“Yes Mother, my voice almost trailed a whispery path but then the wardroom door opened and a guard came inside, greeting us with a courteous bow
“I have words from Rose, Miss Melissa,” the female guard mentioned.
“Miss?” Mrs. Robertson raised an eyebrow and the lady’s lips trembled in fear. “Melissa is your soon–to–be Luna and you dare to address her as ‘miss. Have you grown tired of your tongue already?”
The guard quickly cleared her throat “I apologize for my error, Queen Meranda. Luna Melissa, I have words from Rose”
“What is it?” I queried.
“Earlier ago. people from Silver Crescent visited the Pack House and Miss Aubrey was among
them.”
“What?” the word came out on impulse. “Why am I just hearing about this? Shouldn’t I be immediately informed about the arrival of such high- profile guests?
“Alpha Roland explicitly asked that the news of their visit should be confined to the walls of the Pack House and you weren’t present at

“I do not know that but Rose asked me to pass this news to the Luna Aubrey will henceforth be staying in the Pack and Freya will be released soon.” My jaw dropped, my breaths hooked in my throat as my heart missed its rhythm. My greatest fear was gradually becoming a reality! It all checked out now, the reason Roland went to the park to meet Aubrey Aubrey was the condition for Freya’s release! No, what if it was something else! What if Aubrey was here to become Luna again? Could something be going on between the two of them! These thoughts raced like a brakeless sports car in my head. Mrs. Robertson and I locked gazes with each other and she was just as perplexed as I was.
“Where’s Roland?” I demanded icily.
“He just returned to the Pack House after escorting Aubrey to the dungeon.”
Take me to the Pack House,” I ordered
“Yes Luna!” she replied. “111 prepare your ride now.”
“I’m coming along, Mrs. Robertson interjected.
“No, Mother,” I shook my head. “This is between Roland and I. If I can’t handle this little issue, what use is our future!”
She inhaled sharply and then nodded. I nodded too and strode out of the room angrily. In a matter of minutes, we arrived at the Pack House and my anger grew deeper roots.
“Roland! Roland! Roland!” I yelled as I stormed to the living room only to see Rose waiting for me with her accustomed calmness.
“The Alpha is in his office,” she said and I trotted up the stairs as fast as my legs could carry me. I pushed his door open causing it to hit the wall noisily.

He didn’t even bother to look at me as his eyes were solely fixed on his laptop,

“What did you hear?” he calmly asked, still refusing to gaze at me.
“Aubrey is back!”
He hummed like it was nothing and 1 shan his laptop and thing it away.
“Melissall” He meared with flaming eyes as he arose from his swivel, his heavy breaths colliding against my cheeks. Those were important files I was working on. You are my mate but there is a limit to your nonsense I can tolerate!”
“I don’t care how it
important your work is, 1 demand an explanation! Why the fuck is Aubrey here!!”
“Is that why you threw my laptop?!” his brows arched deeper.
“Oh please stop the charade with me, okay? You think I don’t know what’s happening? I know you met Aubrey at a park, Roland. You’ve been mindlessly chasing after her ever since you saw her at her father’s hospital opening ceremony. No, maybe it has even been longer!”
“So you’re stalking your Alpha now?”
“You are my mate!! I should know your every move, especially when you’re meeting with your ex–wife in secret!” I banged the table again and I could see the glimmer in his eyes, how much he was suffering to contain his rage.
“I don’t care if this whole house burns down, you are going to tell me EVERYTHING! And as long as I breathe, Aubrey is never going to spend another day in this Pack!”
“As far as I’m concerned, I’m the one making the rules here. Aubrey is here for good. She is a member of our Pack and never
r committed any offense in the first place. The only reason she left is because of me and now the only reason she’s back is because I asked her to be the trainer of the pups, they miss her. No one does the training better than her. I brought her here for the benefit of the Pack!”
