Chapter 30
ROLAND
-We are in a state of war” I declared before my four chief security guards in my office. “Silver Crescent has officially made us their enemy and they’re best known for striking at the most unprecedented time. It could be tonight, it could be the dawn of the morning tomorrow, it could be anytime. I need my warriors to be on alert at all times. This Pack has never lost any battle and Silver Crescent won’t be our first”
The four of them stared at each other but they all lacked the look of confidence I needed to see.
“Half of our forces should be stationed at our borders. Rigorous training should begin for our reserves. No stones will be left untouched and we should be ready for the worst–case scenario! If it’s a bloodbath Silver Crescent wants, then we will give it to them!!”
One of the Chief guards cleared his throat. “Alpha if I may, he uttered as he stepped forward. “It’s not news to any of us here how powerful Silver Crescent is and the ruthlessness with which they use to deal with their enemies. They have never lost a war and they’ve always trampled on their enemies like an elephant to an ant
suggest we don’t take this route. Alpha Stephen has been a long–time friend of ours, if we make an enemy out of him we will be on the losing end in the long run. Please, let us settle this matter amically”
I left my swivel to meet him. His gaze lowered from mine as my height towered over his in a domineering manner. I slapped him hard and the corner of his lower lip bled.
“How are you one of my security Pack Chief when you are nothing but a fucking coward?” I bellowed and his body went rigid with fear. “You are a warrior before anything else! The banlefield is your paradise! The absence of the seed of fear in Silverline Valley is what has made us thrive since
“I apologize for my foolishness, Alpha Roland.”
I inhaled deeply, his apology only fueled my disgust. Settle the matter with Silver Crescent amicably. Even Damien would rather die than do that! After what I did to him today. I’m certain he has made me his sworn enemy.
“You are relieved of your position. You are no longer welcome in my army.”
“Alpha Roland His eyes exclaimed in horror.
“Leave” I growled and he hesitated for a split moment before using my door. My eyes focused on the others
“Do the rest of you have opinions you would like to share?” I queried.
“Not at all, Alpha Roland!” One of them boldly answered while the other two nodded in agreement.
“We are ready for war anytime and any day!”
“Good,” a tiny smile graced my lips. “I want a small squad to keep tabs on Silver Crescent, especially Damien. He’s a major problem.”
“We will give you the update as soon as possible, Alpha Roland”
I was about to return to my seat
o my seat when a female guard barged into my office,
“Alpha Roland!” She punted heavily. “Aubrey collapsed, she’s in a comalTM
“What?” My heart almost failed me as those words phased through my cars while fear took a seamless round haunting me down to my very core.
“Where is she?!TM
he’s at the hospital?”
I didn’t even wait for the next second to arrive, I dashed out of my
my office with lightning speed. I was too restless to even use a car. Never in my life did I run this fast like the very essence of my life depended on it. My heart pounded like it wanted to explode in my chest, and my breaths were growing lander to draw from inside with every meter that I covered, nothing in this world was going to stop me from reaching the hospital.
I couldn’t help but mindlessly ponder, was the sick? Was it terminal? Or was she attacked, who would even dare to hurt my ex–wife in my Pack
wish? Or was this because of use? The more these questions revolved around my head like a synchronized queued musir playlau, the longer it stung me just when I fully had her in my grasp misfortune had already started greeting her. If there was anything I knew for certain, it was tui, My wolf would never burgive me if my chapter with Aubrey were to ever end like this.
“Where is she?!” I breathdlessly flared as
ed as I got to the hospital’s private wardroom hallway. Simon and Rose left their clairs stationed in front of
Audrey’s wardİntom to meet me.
“Freya is attending to her, we’re not allowed to enter for now,” Rose calmly stated.

“I’m the Alpha, I want to see Aubrey!” I protested but Simon sharply stood in front of me with a cold look.
“The doctor knows better, this is not the time to start abusing your position.”
“How do you expect me to remain calm like this when Aubrey’s life is in danger!” I gestured infuriatingly
“To be fair your ex–wife would probably not be in this position if you didn’t force her to stay here.
1 huffed in disbelief. “Are you serious right now? You think this is the right time to bring up this issue?”
“I’m just saying that you would be the last person Aubrey would even want to see and if you weren’t the Alpha, I would have asked you to fuck off!”
“Simon!” I growled.
“I’m ready for a fight whenever you are, it seems that’s what you’ve been hungry for these days.”
I neared him and he didn’t flinch in the slightest. His resolve was crystal clear in his eyes, he was ready to match my energy-
“That’s enough, you two!” Rose sternly intervened. “Aubrey is in there fighting for her life and you two are about to start throwing blows, where are
your manners!”
My breaths toured out shakily before I took a step backward. He did the same thing too.
“What happened to her!” I asked Rose.
“We don’t know. We were talking and she just suddenly collapsed”
“How could she just collapse? There must be a logical explanation for all this!” I slapped my forehead angrily and frantically combed through my hair. My hands wouldn’t stop trembling, fear of the unknown joyously kept bubbling and popping in my chest. Simon sighed and Rose focused on the door while I paced back and forth.
“Are you sure that’s what happened? No one attacked her or something?” I asked Rose who wriggled her head.
“She was with us, nobody did anything.” Simon icily quoted.
The door suddenly opened and we all rushed to meet Freya who stepped out with a disgruntled look and subtle fear gleaming in her eyes.
“How is she?!” The words effortlessly rolled off my tongue and she sighed.
“In all my years of being a doctor, never have I seen a case like this before. She’s brain–dead and her entire body is in hibernation, I won’t lie to you all but Aubrey might be nearing death’s door.”
My eyes widened in horror.
“I think Aubrey was poisoned”
