room of my father’s mansion.
“Aubrey!” My father’s voice broke in despair as Freya and 1 entered the ridiculously large
He briskly left the couch he was seated on and came to embrace me tightly yet in a gentle fashion. I thought I had built enough courage for myself, that there were no more tanks of tears for my eyes to draw from but I was wrong, I easily melted in my father’s embrace and my eyes let these tears seamlessly from them like a gentle river.
Theard everything,” he said while rubbing my back tenderly. “Tim so sorry that you had to go through this. This is my fault. I should have done better as a father. Because of my decision three years ago, look how bad it has shuttered you My father’s lips didn’t stop moving as guilt continued to paisler in his voice.
I wished I could tell him it wasn’t his. That he has always been the best father I could ever wish for. That I didn’t hate him nor did I blame him for my misfortune but my lips were far too heavy to move. Even if they parted, there was no way these words would roll out of my tongue. All I just wanted was to remain in this moment and find solace in his warm embrace.
“It’s not your fauli, Dad?” Alex’s voice sharply pierced through the air causing us to separate from each other. There he was by the staircase, his golden brown curls looking sharp as ever, complementing his brown white long–sleeved shirt coupled with a brown waistcoat and trousers. He was my junior brother who seldom gets angry. But this time, his hazel eyes glimmering with rage and pain intertwined.
“Neither is it your fault, Aubrey, he continued as he walked downstairs to meet us. “The Jordan family trusted Alpha Roland and his family. True, your marriage was bound by an allunce but we still honored it, unlike Alpha Roland. It’s a shame that Silverline Valley’s Alpha has lost the value of
Texhaled deeply in a shaky manner. “I won’t forgive this insult, Aubrey. I promise you that. Today, our family’s name was insulted and that bastard broke my sister’s trust. I would rather die than let the matter simply go by that casily!”
“No, Alex.” I wriggled my head while holding his hands. “Let him be.”
“Never!” He freed himself from my hands gently. “Our family’s power might have declined over the years but that doesn’t give Alpha Roland the right to treat us like trash! We were there for him when he needed support the most! Thanks to us he can proudly wear the title of Alpha today! And this is how he repays us This is how he treats you?!
He’s a fucking bastard and I will make him pay!!!”
“He’s your Alpha Going against him is rebellion!” I argued back.
“Then so be it! Ever since I got the news of your divorce, I made up my mind to sever all ties with that rotten Pack!”
“Alex, please,” I held his hands firmly again. “You are better than this. The Jordan family knows better than to chase after some petty revenge. Rebelling against Roland is a futile effort. I have accepted my fate already so please.” I cried. “Please. I already lost a husband and I don’t want to lose a brother as well. Let him be
His chest towered up and down in a heavy manner, defiance still glaringly flaunted in his eyes.
Alex your sister is right,” my father said, and only then did he calm down. “Life has its thorns, this is not our first thorn but the sun will always rise on us again.”
“Welcome back home, little sister, Alex teased me with a tiny smile and I playfully hit his shoulder,
“Who’s your little sister?”
We all laughed.
“Let me take you to your room, you must be tired from your journey, my father curled his arm around my shoulder before we strode up the stairs The moment we got to my room, it was just as empty as I left it. Back in the day, this mansion was our vacation home whenever we came to the human world but as things went had, my father and brother reverted to using this place as our main home.
We both sat on the cage of the bed, letting silence dine with us
“I don’t blame you for fixing my marriage with Roland, I hope you know that,” my voice almost trailed a whispery path. He smiled sadly.
“I still remember that very day I agreed to the alliance,” he said while peering at the ceilings as if he were reliving the memory. “I didn’t do it because I wanted you to be Lama. I knew how much you liked him and I thought I saw the same passion in him but I was wrong. I made a costly
mistake.
“No, you didn’t,” I wriggled my head and he sighed. “I’m pregnant, Dad”
His eyes exclaimed in surprise and his lips parted slightly from shock but then his awestruck look soon melted into a warm smile.

“Does he know!”
I wriggled my head. “I don’t want him to stay with me simply because a baby is now in play.”
My father took a deep breath, “I should officially welcome my grandchild to the Jordan family.” He placed his hand on my belly while I gasped.
“You want me to keep the baby?”
“Don’t tell me you were considering an abortion!”
“Why would I! I just thought you would find it hard to accept a baby whose father neglected it.”
His smile deepened. “Don’t ever say that, your child has a father, two in fact Me and your brother, Alex. Who knows, it could be twins.”

He laughed and a tiny smile crept to my lips. “Congratulations, Aubrey. After all these years the moon goddess blessed us with a miracle”
My smile deepened too

“We’re here for you, Aubrey. We will always support you in whatever you want to do moving on from here, and always, we love you?”
“I love you too, Dad,” I whispered and my eyes fell to his hands gently massaging my hand. For a moment, I wondered how Roland was faring. I bet he was currently jolly with Melissa and Jeremy. He’s probably forgotten about me and that’s the same thing I should be doing too.
Forget about him and move on.
