“It’s been several months now, Mother,” I said as Mrs. Robertson and I sat on a bench watching Jeremy playing with the others in the playground.
“Roland hadn’t made me his Luna yet. He has changed.”
She sighed
“These days he barely has time for his family, always so consumed with his work as if that’s all that matters. We barely have dinner together. Sometimes when we go on walks he just suddenly spaces out. He doesn’t even smile like he used to. It’s almost as if something is bothering him I’ve asked him several times but he keeps saying nothing.

“Oh Melissa,” she held my hand, assuring me with an endearing smile. “You know how tasking the Alpha’s work can be.”
“I know Mother, it’s just that. I’m getting nervous. It feels like I’m gradually losing him again. I stay so close to connection day by day.”

“I understand how you feel. In fact, some of the Pack Chiefs have begun to sound it in my ears on what’s delaying him…” her voice trailed off. “He’s probably waiting for the right time. You never can tell, maybe he wants to surprise you.”
I wriggled my head, this woman could never understand how I felt I don’t need his surprise, time is running out for me. I need to be Roland’s Luna as soon as possible before things go haywire for me
“You know sometimes I feel like he still thinks about Aubrey,” I muttered.
“That’s absurd! Roland might be all things but he never for once really cared about her. She was only a tool for him and the only woman he had in his heart all these years was you!”
I sighed. As much as I wanted to believe her I couldn’t bring myself to find comfort in her words. I share the same bed with Roland. I see the look in his eyes sometimes, It’s not that hard to tell when someone is yearning for another. Unfortunately, that yearning wasn’t for me, it was for Aubrey. The night soon drew in and Jeremy and I finally returned to the Park House.

He was about to respond when my phone started ringing in my pocket. It was an unknown number and he freed me from his hold so I could
answer it.
“Does your Alpha know that the child he thinks is his heir is a bastard?” The caller said on the phone. My breaths hung in my throat instantly as fear rigidly gripped me to the core. I gazed at Roland who was focused on me but he didn’t seem to hear the caller’s voice.
“It’s from my workplace, I’ll be back.” I quickly lied to Roland before rushing out of his office.
“How the hell did you find my number?!” I blurted on the phone as I dashed into one of the
guest rooms.
He cackled. “Just because you ran away with my son to Silverline Valley Pack doesn’t mean you’re invincible, Melissa. Run to the ends of the world, I will always find you.”
My breaths toured out shakily while my hand trembled. “You can’t touch me here, you won’t be able to handle Silverline Valley’s wrath.”
He laughed again.
“Jeremy is not your son, you bastard!!” I yelle
