Chapter 148
An hour and a half later, the door to the emergency room opened. William and Monica jerked upright, their eyes glued to the door.
The door opened. Shane out first, taking off his mask. His face was unreadable with a mix of shock and complexity. He opened his mouth several times before finally saying, “Tom is fine.”
Monica staggered, trembling. “Are you sure?”
Shane gave her a solemn nod.
“Thank God!” Monica cried in relief, laughing and sobbing. “Thank you, Dr. Spence, thank you!”
William also looked emotional. “Thank you, Dr. Spence!”
Shane opened his mouth again, but it took a while before he said, his eyes filled with an extremely complicated expression. “It wasn’t me. It was… Quiana.”
He had gone inside, intending to perform the operation, but Quiana hadn’t given him the chance. After flipping through Tom’s previous test reports and some X–rays, she made her decision, picked up the scalpel, and began the operation.
Things would be more difficult if the operation was interrupted. Shane wanted to intervene but didn’t dare, and then, he was stunned by Quiana’s calm, practiced movements. Eventually, he became nothing more than an assistant handing over tools.
It wasn’t until the operation was completed and Quiana gave him a kick that he came back to his senses. “What?” A voice of surprise came from the hallway. Zack looked shocked. “Does Quiana really know medical skills?” Thinking of what Quiana had done, Shane nodded. Julius squinted slightly, and his gaze was as dark as the night sky.
The door opened again, and Quiana stepped out. She removed her mask, looking tired. Looking at the anxious William and Monica, she said, “I’ll prescribe some traditional medicine for him later. If he rests well for the next six months, he’ll be completely fine.”
William froze for a moment. “By ‘fine‘, you mean…”
“His congenital heart disease was caused by ventricular septal defect, blood shunting, and so on. The operation was very successful.” Shane explained, “What Quiana means is that Tom’s heart disease has been cured.”
William trembled and he looked at Quiana, his eyes full of shock. “You…”
“No need to thank me,” Quiana replied with a faint smile before heading to the changing room to change.
Only then did everyone realize that Quiana had saved Tom. They finally knew that Quiana truly knew medicine and she had saved a life.
With Tom no longer burdened by heart disease, William and Monica felt happy, but they gazed toward the Wilson family at the end of the hallway. The look in their eyes was of intense fury as if they were going to kill them.
Carole felt her body go limp, her face as pale as a ghost, and she anxiously clutched Sean’s arm. “Dad…”
Hanson!”
Sean’s face was dark, and he said, “Carole didn’t mean it. She was just being headstrong. I apologize on behalf of her, Mr.
“Does an apology matter?” William’s gaze was cold and heavy.
Monica’s tone was filled with resentment. “She nearly killed my son, and you just called it ‘headstrong, huh?”

Sean shielded Carole behind him. “Then what do you want to do?”
William directly stepped forward and punched him.
“Dad!” Carole trembled in fear, her legs giving way as she struggled to stay upright.
Elliott, trembling with anger, muttered, “You are a disgrace to our family!”

Quiana came out after changing into her own clothes. Bryson walked up to her, his expression somewhat complicated. He whispered, “Didn’t you say you weren’t going to make a move?”
Quiana paused for a moment and said, “Saving a life matters more.”
Bryson didn’t press the matter and adjusted his white coat.“My research is halfway done. If you’re fine here, I’ll head back
first.”
Quiana nodded.
Bryson left with the four armed men. When he passed Julius, he stopped for a moment, looked back, and said,” bullying you, let me know.”

Clearly, he was saying that to Julius.
