Chapter 28
The room fell silent again at these words. After all, the Larson family had never dared to mention ending the engagement, while Julius had suggested it more than once. Now that Quiana wanted to call it off, Julius was actually refusing
Shane had thought Julius came today to end things. Hearing Julius’s refusal now, he frowned, puzzled about what Julius was thinking.
On the other hand, Zack was almost bouncing with excitement after his initial surprise. He thought he nailed it–Julius had fallen hard for Quiana at first sight.
Quiana frowned. Julius, have you lost your mind?“
Julius pulled up the blanket a bit more over his legs. His sharp, curming eyes, usually so aggressive, were surprisingly calm now. His thin lips curled up slightly as he said coolly. “Everyone in Janivielle knows about my condition.”
As Quiana stormed out of Riverfield, she kicked a tree, sending a shower of green leaves fluttering down.
“Hey there, Mrs. Hawley Zack’s playful voice called out again from behind, sounding just as annoying as ever.
Quiana was fuming. She licked the corner of her lips, pinched an oval leaf between her fingers, and flicked it away with force.
Zack hadn’t even had time to react before he felt a sharp pain on his check. He wiped it and was shocked to see blood on his hand.
He turned stiffly to find a regular green leaf embedded right into the leather seat beside his ear.
“Oh m
my… oh my gosh…” Zack shivered, holding his face, almost in tears. “Was that really necessary?”
Quiana’s eyes glinted with mischief, her cold gaze sweeping over Julius in the car. She sneered at Zack, “Next time, it’ll be your tongue.
Just then, a taxi drove by. She swung the door open, jumped in, and with a click, shut it behind her, quickly disappearing into the shimmering city lights.
“Am I scarred for life? Hurry, get me sonte ointment!” Zack wailed at Shane, almost in tears.
The cut was long and deep, bleeding non–stop. Shane took a cotton swab from the first aid kit in the car and tended to it, frowning deeply, “This was a bit too much.”
Julius turned his head slightly, his long, slender fingers deftly picking the leaf off the seat, and said calmly. “If she wanted, she could have ended Zack right then and there.”
“Whoa! No way!” Zack was startled, holding his face in disbelief. “A single leaf could be deadly? Some kind of superpower? This girl’s insane!” His eyes widened in fear.
Julius clearly wasn’t joking
Shane furrowed his brow even tighter, feeling puzzled. “This was a perfect chance to call off the engagement, so why did you change your mind?”
“It’s pretty interesting” Julius chuckled softly. Before anyone could respond, he leaned back against his wheelchair and lazily closed his eyes. His voice drifted off. “Let’s head back.”

Chapter 28
At the Larson residence. Winona sobbed pitifully over the phone, “Mom, I don’t want to marry Julius!“
43%
Mandy rubbed her temples and gently coaxed. “Don’t worry, I will never let you marry him. Just focus on your acting. Your dad, brother, and I will take care of everything else.”
“Yeah.” Winona sniffed and said in a cutesy manner, I knew it; you love me the most. After hanging up, the sadness on Winona’s face disappeared immediately, replaced by a gloomy expression.
She didn’t expect Quiana would dare to discuss calling off the engagement with the Hawley family. The online criticism against Quiana had subsided, clearly someone hired a PR team.
“Quiana, do you think you’re qualified to act in the same film as me?” Malice flickered in Winona’s eyes. She took out her personal phone, dialed a number, and said in an overly sweet voice, “Keith…
Night had fallen, the darkness was deep, but the underground base was as bright as day. Quiana sat on a high stool at the lab bench, a chocolate stick in her mouth, her fingers typing rapidly on the keyboard, her presence exuding a cold menace.
Hugo hugged his little treasure tightly, carefully saying. “Quana, how about I find someone to take care of Julius? Then they can’t still force you to marry.”
