Chapter 5
After a quick shower and drying her hair, Quiana heard her phone buzzing. She plopped into a chair, legs casually draped. over the bedside, and answered the call..
“Quiana, are the Larsons being nice to you?” A young voice came through the phone, full of worry and care.
Quiana replied nonchalantly, still drying her hair with a towel, “It’s alright.”
“That means they’re not treating you right! But they’re your real parents, they shouldn’t be acting that way,” Hugo Levine pouted.
Then he switched gears. “Quiana, someone from the Larson family found me today and gave me a bank card. I checked, and there’s 70 thousand dollars on it!” His voice was tinged with disbelief.
“70 thousand dollars! I’ve never seen so much money!” Hugo gasped, and then hesitated. “Why would the Larson family give
me this much cash?”
The guy from the Larson family handed Hugo the card, said it was a gift, and left. Hugo couldn’t wrap his head around since he didn’t think the Larson family owed him anything.
Then an idea flashed across Hugo’s mind. “Could it be that Winona is so into money and fancy stuff that she won’t leave the Larson place?
“Maybe the Larsons feel bad and, to save her rep, they’re trying to buy me off and mess with my head before getting rid of me for good?”
“You’ve got an imagination,” Quiana smirked, teasing him. “Yeah, so you better enjoy it while you can, just in case.”
Hugo sounded scared. “Quiana, you have to help me! You wouldn’t let your cute and handsome bro die young, right?”
Quiana wasn’t falling for his act. She dropped the towel, pulled out her laptop from her bag, and hit the power button. Then, she casually said, “Winona’s not going anywhere, and she probably won’t even acknowledge you.”
Even though 70 thousand dollars was pocket change for the Larson family, giving that much to Hugo showed how much they cared about Winona.
Hugo was quiet for a bit, and then grumbled, “Like I need that jerk to acknowledge me anyway?”
The computer screen was a calm blue, just an arrow icon. Quiana casually held a cigarette between her lips, tapped a few keys, and suddenly a red cross appeared on the screen, followed by a bunch of code.
While typing, she said, “Take that money and treat yourself. Get some good food, nice clothes…”
Hearing this. Hugo felt antsy. “Quiana…” he asked nervously, “I’m not really going to die, am I?”
Quiana blew out a puff of smoke and joked, T’m coming for you tonight”
Hearing her in such a good mood, Hugo laughed and said, “You wouldn’t do that, then got serious. “Those guys are still hanging around the slums, acting like they won’t leave until they find the miracle doctor. Quiana, be careful at the Larson residence.”
Quiana raised an eyebrow and lazily replied, “Mm–hmm.”
Hugo paused again and said. “Quiana, even though we’re not blood, you raised me. If you’re ever not happy at the Larson residence or if they treat you wrong, you can always come back. My arms are always open for you!”
Quiana chuckled. “Your little arms? Save them for your girlfriend.”

Chapter 5
The yard of the Hawley residence was a garden of flowers and trees. Under a white parasol by the artificial lake, Julius sat in a wheelchair, holding a fishing rod. Bathed in golden light, he looked noble and refined, untouched by the ordinary.

Shane Spence laughed at Julius, “I doubt a fish would bite without bait”
Julius didn’t even look up, the teardrop mole at the corner of his eye nearly transparent under the sunlight, adding a touch of charm. His voice is cold and clear. “Any leads on the miracle doctor?”
Shane got serious, draped a gray thin blanket over Julius’s legs, and frowned, “No.”
Shane was born into a family with a long history in medicine, his father being the Deputy Director of the National Medical
