Chapter 136 Missed a Disastrous Life
I turned down the invitation, explaining that work had kept me tied up, Shawn didn’t try to convince me otherwise.

Later that evening, sometime after nine, I noticed a post from Queensa on her social media. She wrote, “The night looks lovely, but I’m feeling even better?”
She had shared several snapshots of the city lights. The last image was a little out of focus, but even through the blur, 1 recognized the silver bracelet wrapped around Yuma’s wrist.
A quiet laugh escaped me. Queena was clearly putting in effort to stir something in me.
But it didn’t work. I felt nothing.
What I missed tonight wasn’t just dinner–it was a disastrous life I no longer have to live.
Shawn and Yuna only came home much later, but I didn’t wait up. I tucked myself in and slept without a care.
In the morning. Yuna chatted with me about the night before. She’d gone to a fancy cinema where the seats were soft and reclined all the way.
“Mommy, it was so comfy! You have to try it with me next time,” she said cheerfully. Maybe, just maybe, she truly wanted to share something beautiful with me.
But in my mind, I saw Shawn and Queena seated side by side on some plush recliner, watching the movie with Yuna. And in those moments when Yuna wasn’t looking, were they sneaking touches? What else could have been happening?
“Sure, when I’m not so busy.” I answered with a neutral smile. To me, Yuna was no longer a daughter, just someone I talked to from a distance. There was no anger left in me. Whatever she said, I answered, like a stranger might.
“Mommy, it’s my summer break! Let’s plan a vacation together!” she said, running off to grab her notebook and a pen. “Let’s start with our first stop
“I’m not going anywhere with you, I interrupted, my voice cold and flat.
She froze in place. Her eyes shimmered, turning red quickly. A second later, she tore the notebook in two and tossed the pieces to the ground, then stormed up the stairs.

Just then, Shawn came down. Noticing Yuna’s swollen eyes, he walked över and tried to soothe her. “What happened, Yuna?”
“Mommy said she won’t go on a trip with me,” she said, her voice cracking.
Shawn’s face darkened. He held her close, then turned to me. “It’s a holiday. Kids want to have fun. Why would you shut her down like that?”
I kept my tone steady. “I just started my new job. I honestly can’t spare the time. If she needs someone to go with, find someone else. Or you take her.”
He glanced at Yuna, gently brushed her tears away, and said, “All right, Yuna. I will make time to take you out for some fun. How about a trip to Sylvania Disneyland soon?”
Yuna wrapped her arms around Shawn’s neck and murmured softly, “Mommy hasn’t been paying attention to me. I already said sorry, but she’s still distant. What more can I do?”
Shawn turned to me, his eyes holding mixed emotions. “You’re really not going to spend any time with Yuna?” he asked.
“Yeah, I’ve got a lot on my plate,” I replied, my voice a bit cold but it was how I truly felt inside.
Yuna’s eyes filled with tears again. This time, her sobs were even sadder.

1 showed up at the office right at 8:30 in the morning. At noon, I went to eat in the cafeteria and noticed a few people. sneaking looks my way.
When I paid closer attention. I caught pieces of their conversation. They said Queena hadn’t shown up for work and might’ve gone to Sylvania. They also noted that Shawn was missing, ton. They even speculated about how the company hadn’t had any business dinners lately.
The implication was clear. There wasn’t anything urgent happening at the company, yet both Queena and Shawn disappeared at the same time. As his wife, I should understand what that might mean.

I returned to my desk without showing any emotion and unlocked my phone. Sure enough, Queena had posted on her social media again
In the photo, she flashed a peace sign in front of those unique fairytale–like houses at Disneyland.
Just as I figured. Shawn had taken Yuna to Sylvania today. And Queena? She went along. The three of them must be enjoying a lovely day together.
Maybe thinking I didn’t know what was going on. Hazel boldly asked me out for collee,
Honestly, when it came to brains, the Hartwells must’ve poured the entire inheritance into Shawn. Hazel didn’t seem to get
her fair share
She tried to stir things up, asking if I had the nerve to see her in person. She also brought up how our last argument ended badly and claimed she wanted to finish what we started.
When I showed up at the coffee shop, Hazel looked briefly caught off guard.
It made sense. Normally, I’d steer clear of any run–in with her. If she had called me out before, I would’ve likely found an excuse to stay away and avoid a scene.
But this time, I walked in confidently, dressed in a classy, fitted outfit. Behind her, two men turned their heads and couldn’t stop staring at me..
“Hazel is she your sister–in–law? She looks so young.
“And stunning, too.”
“Scram, both of you! The moment Hazel saw me walk in and noticed the way her two male friends suddenly lit up with interest, she snapped. She pointed furiously at the door, her tone sharp as she ordered her two male
