Chapter 143 Tiffany Is Missing

Queena’s face grew grim again. Maybe she hadn’t counted on me being clever. In her eyes. I was just a pretty face with nothing else to offer.
She said, her tone sharp. “Mrs. Hartwell, time passes quickly, especially for someone as lovely as you. Shawn no longer loved you, and yet you stay stuck in this relationship. You’re missing your chance to find someone who suits you better. Isn’t that a waste!” She kept circling back to the same point that Shawn’s feelings for me were gone.
She knew exactly where to strike.
She was good at saying things that hurt.
“So what? His years are fading too, not just mine. Even if he doesn’t love me anymore, he’s still my husband. He’s rich, he looks great, and let’s just say he keeps me satisfied in bed. I don’t think I’ve lost anything.” I flicked my hair with a lazy smile.
Ms. Tackman, the one who looks desperate here isn’t me.”
Her cheeks flushed with anger. She clearly didn’t see that response coming.
Tiffany, don’t get too full of yourself. You’ll regret these words someday.” Queena stood up, clearly done with the conversation.
“I won’t feel sorry for anything I said. But you? You’re rushing to grab something you pretend not to care about. You say you don’t want the title of Mrs. Hartwell, yet it’s the very thing you’re chasing.” I said coldly as she turned away.
She froze in place, gave me one last hateful look, and then stormed off with her purse in hand.
After she was gone, I calmly pulled a voice recorder from my bag.
Since deciding to collect proof for the divorce, I’ve been learning and planning in secret.
In my previous life, I wandered through chaos. But this time, I’ll be ready for every fight.
After playing back the recording. Queena’s harsh words stirred up a fire in my chest.
Still, I had no intention of showing the audio to Shawn right away. I had come up with a smarter plan.
That afternoon, I skipped work. I didn’t return home either. Instead, I made my way to Sceace Lake by myself, hoping the peaceful view would calm my thoughts.
Around seven in the evening. Shawn called me. I declined the call without hesitation.
By eight, the skies opened up and poured rain without warning, scattering people on the streets. I remained seated on a bench by the lake, letting the cold rain soak through my clothes and drip from my hair.
Shawn called again and again, but I didn’t pick up. At that moment, it was as if I had vanished from his life.
Then came the calls from my father–in–law and mother–in–law. Even Yuna messaged me. I ignored them all.
Late into the night, Shawn was in a panic, rushing from place to place trying to find me.
Melanie called me, her voice panicked. She said Shawn had gone wild, yelling at her door, demanding to know where I was
I told Melanie where I had gone. She passed the word to Shawn. Later that night, as rain poured over Sceace Lake, a sleek silver car pulled up next to me. The Bentley stopped suddenly. The door opened, and Shawn stepped out, holding an
umbrella.
I sat beneath a large tree, completely drenched, water dripping from my hair and clothes. Shawn rushed over without hesitation, tossed his umbrella aside, and wrapped his arms around me tightly. “Tiffany, have you lost your mind? Why are you sitting here in a storm like this? Don’t you care about yourself at all? What were you thinking coming here alone?” he

My whole body was cold, and his embrace did nothing to warm me.
With the little strength I had left. I shoved him hard and hissed,
“Go back to your Queena, leave me alone.”

He held me tightly, and I couldn’t break free. But I’ve never been one to suffer in silence. I twisted around, grabbed his hand with a fury burning in my veins, and sank my teeth into the back of it.
He grunted in pain and finally pulled back, breathing rough. “Tell me what’s going on. Why are you out here like this? Have you been sitting in the rain all day?”
I turned my face away, voice low. “It’s none of your concern.” Tears spilled down before I could stop them. My expression felt like the world had turned its back on me.
Shawn bent down in front of me. He reached out carefully, his fingers brushing my cheek, and gently turned my face toward him. My eyes were wet and tired, full of hurt I couldn’t hide.
Shawn’s eyes were red too, a clear sign he was desperate and anxious.
He stared into my eyes, and for a second, it was like something in him cracked open. His face softened. There was warmth there, but also pain, regret, and something unspoken. He let out a quiet sigh. “Come on, stop crying. Let’s go home.”
“I’m not going back.” I said, brushing his hands off. “That place isn’t mine anymore.” Then I turned and began walking toward
the lake.
He froze for a moment, stunned, and suddenly ran up to grab me from behind. “Please don’t do anything stupid, Tiffany. We can figure this out Just don’t do something you’ll regret.”
I was confused at first. I had no intention of doing anything drastic, I only wanted to walk around, maybe get away from the mess for a while.
But if he misunderstood, maybe it was better to play along.
“You don’t love me anymore. So why act like you still do?” I choked out, pulling at his grip.
