Chapter 151 Queena Resigned
Yuna suddenly blurted it out, catching both Shawn and me completely off guard

Before either of us could react, she burst into tears, clutched my hand, then grabbed onto Shawn’s arm while sobbing uncontrollably I don’t want you to get divorced I don’t want to be an orphan! I don’t want people to laugh at me
I watched her cry, my brows knitting together. When I glanced op, I caught Shawn staring at me, his eyes unreadable and
intense
I silently reminded myself–don’t give in. No matter what they did, I had to take responsibility for my own life. Feeling sorry for them would only drag me back into the same mistakes I swore I’d never repeat.
“Yuna, don’t cry. Daddy and Mommy aren’t splitting up Shawn said gently, unable to stand seeing his daughter so upset. He bent down, scooped her into his arms, wiped away her tears, and kissed her check. From now on, you have to listen to Mommy, respect her, and be nice to her, alright?”
Still snitling. Yuna glanced at me with her lips pursed, then gave a small, obedient nod. “Okay, I will.”
Still
Watching this little performance between father and daughter, I couldn’t help but feel a laugh bubble up.
Seeing Yuna agree. Shawn turned to me and said quietly, “Tiffany, focus on your work. I’ll take Yuna home. Tomorrow, I’ll drive you to the airport.”
“There’s no need. I’ll go on my own.” I turned him down without hesitation.
He pressed his lips together, clearly a little disappointed, but didn’t push it. Holding Yuna in his arms, he walked out without another word
I spent the rest of the night buried in work–this father–daughter pair had taken up enough of my time.
While I was showering, a sudden thought struck me, is Shaten a masochist? Back when I used to be soft–spoken and gentle, he barely paid me any attention, always brushing me off like I didn’t matter. But now that I’ve changed, now that I’m no longer accommodating him, he’s suddenly being kind, going along with everything I say.

The next morning. I didn’t head into the office. Instead, I had someone keeping tabs on me.
Late in the morning, she called and said Shawn just had a meeting with Queena in the HR department. Word around the office was that she might be up for another promotion.
Seriously? Now that Shawn knows Queena’s carrying someone else’s child, don’t tell me he’s still willing to play the sucker?
If he has the guts to go through with it, then all I can do is wish him luck.
Queena’s his trusted right–hand, after all. No matter how messy things get, I doubt he’d let her walk away from the company. Smart bosses always hold on to their most capable people.
By lunchtime, Shawn somehow found out I was still at the apartment–and to my surprise, he actually showed up with
takeout.
The moment I opened the door and saw him standing there in casual clothes, I instantly felt annoyed.
Shawn stepped inside, noticing the packed suitcase by the door, and reached down to lift it. “This is heavy. Are you sure you can carry it?”
I didn’t even look up from my laptop. “Do you believe women can haul buckets of water just fine when there’s no man
around?”

I actually agreed with that. I closed my laptop and walked over to the table, only to see he’d brought all the dishes I liked. When I glanced at him, he looked a little nervous.
The world must have turn upside down,” I said as I sat down, resting my chin on my hand and looking at Shawn. “When I was in love with you, you couldn’t see me at all. Now that we’re getting divorced, here you are, suddenly trying to be sweet. Tell me, Shawn–do you men think women are that easy to please? Slap us once, then hand us a piece of candy? One’s not enough, so you give five, ten?”
Shawn’s brows drew together slightly. “Don’t overthink it,” he said. “We’re still husband and wife.”
I figured he didn’t have a real answer to my question anyway, so I let it go and quietly started eating.
He joined me at the table. For a while, we ate in silence–until he suddenly said, “I told Queena to hand in her resignation.”
“What?” I stared at him, stunned. “You’re really willing to let her go?”
Shawn gave me a sideways glance. “You always suspected something was going on between us, didn’t you? Now that I’ve asked her to resign, look at your reaction.”
“She’s one of your best,” I said, still surprised. “You’re just letting her walk away? That’s a huge loss for the company. Shawn was never the impulsive type–this was completely out of character.
Shawn replied casually. “It’s a loss I can afford. It’s not a big deal–I’ve already found someone just as capable to take her place.”
I had to admit that men do tend to think more logically. He probably made Queena leave because her presence was starting to damage his image. As the boss, Shawn had always said he valued his reputation. He likely didn’t want to get caught up in a messy scandal just because of one woman’s drama.
“Be honest with me,” I said, eyeing him. “Why’d you let her go? And don’t give me some nonsense about it being for my sake.” My voice dripped with sarcasm,
