My dad’s face hardened, his voice grave. “It all depends on who’s at fault. If Tiffany is in the wrong, we’ll be the first to correct her. But right now, she’s done nothing wrong.”
My mom nodded, her gaze steady. That’s right. We may not have the wealth or influence of your family, but if Tiffany ends up divorced, her father and I will make sure she’s taken care of”
Shawn’s complexion drained of color, his voice faltering as he pleaded. “I know I’ve made a mistake, Please, give me a chance to fix this. Let me get back with Tiffany.”
I glanced at Shawn, seeing the desperation in his eyes. He wouldn’t meet my gaze, though. His focus remained on my parents. My eyes, however, found Yuna’s. She clung to Shawn’s neck, her tiny face hidden against his chest. When the word ‘divorce‘ reached her cars, her expression twisted in fear, but soon that fear turned to a fiery glare aimed directly at me.
It was clear my parents could see the weight I was bearing in this moment. They both stood, their voices firm in unison. “Shawn, this is between you and Tiffany. You need to talk this through. We’ve never interfered in her decisions. We raised her to be thoughtful, respectful, and understanding. If this was something she could fix, she would have already done so. She doesn’t need us to convince her.“
My mom added, her tone calm but resolute, “Tiffany’s always been quick–witted, kind–hearted, and sensible. She’s not the type to act out of spite. We trust her judgment.”
Susanna’s frustration boiled over. She shot to her feet and rushed after my parents, stepping in their path. “Why are you two pushing for a divorce as well! This is a matter for both families!”
I stood too, my voice steady but weary. “Susanna, I’m leaving now.”
www way.
“Leaving? This is your home!” she snapped, her voice sharp, her posture blocking my
I didn’t hesitate. I sidestepped her, walking toward the door.
Then, unexpectedly, a small figure dashed toward me. I turned just in time to see Yuna rushing at me.
For a brief moment, I thought she might try to stop me, but instead, she shoved me with all her might. My foot slipped, and I almost lost my balance, teetering on the edge of the threshold.
“Go, Yuna shouted, her voice raw with emotion. “You don’t want Dad, you don’t want me, and you don’t want this family. Go and don’t come back. I never want to see you again.”
Shawn rushed forward, his arms wrapping around Yuna as he whispered soothing words, trying to calm her. “Tiffany, just got take care of your parents. I’ll talk to Yuna.”
In that instant, as I was pushed out of their world, a cold emptiness settled deeper in my chest.
I didn’t look back. My steps were steady, taking me toward my car.
Behind me, Yuna’s sobs rang out, sharp and unrelenting, her cries echoed through the house. Shawn’s attempts to comfort her were in vain–nothing could ease her pain.
My parents stood silently, watching the scene unfold with heavy hearts. When my mom took a step toward Yuna, wanting to comfort her, my dad gently grabbed her arm and shook his head. My mom’s face crumpled, and she immediately began to cry, her tears soaking into my dad’s shoulder as she leaned against him
I felt my own emotions swell, tears burning in my eyes. But I blinked them away and took a step forward. “Dad, Mom, let’s go
to any apartment.”“
They nodded silently, and we left the villa without a word. The car ride was heavy with silence; neither of them spoke.
My hands gripped the steering wheel as I focused on the road, driving them first to a quiet restaurant for dinner.

“Mom, Dad, please, have some tea,” I said softly, I felt like I was failing them. I couldn’t even manage my own life. And now, they were sharing in my pain, helpless to ease it.
My dad’s voice cut through the silence, calm and steady. “Did he really cheat on
you?
I shook my head slowly, the truth hanging heavily in the air. “I don’t know for sure. But emotionally, yes. There’s no doubt”
Mom sighed deeply, the weight of the moment in her breath. “You know, when you two got married, I had my doubts. I wasn’t sure. Shawn is too handsome, too successful. A man like him, with that kind of charm, even if he didn’t go looking for it, women would still throw themselves at him.”
Dad nodded in agreement, his expression grim. “People with money face temptations we can’t even begin to imagine. If Shawn only strayed now, after all this time, I’d say he still has some decency left.”
I froze, my heart sinking. “So you both thought this was inevitable? That I was always going to get hurt?”
They exchanged a long glance before nodding in unison. “Yes,” Dad said quietly. “We always thought that if you couldn’t hold on to Shawn, we’d need to think about what you’d do next, after the divorce.”
Then, to my surprise, Dad smiled faintly, his voice light. “Your mom even found a match for you. There’s a university professor from their side–divorced, but he’s decent–looking.”
I blinked, caught off guard. A laugh bubbled up, mingling with tears. How had they never told me? They were so good at hiding things, so good at pretending everything was fine.
Mom nudged Dad with her elbow, a playful warning in her eyes. “Don’t start spreading rumors like that.”
She turned to me then, her voice soft and full of reassurance. “Tiffany, don’t feel pressured. You need to do what feels right for you. Life’s too short to live it any other way. Your dad and I have lived long enough to know that while money and success matter, if you’re miserable, none of it is worth it. We just want you to be happy. Her words wrapped around me like a warm, comforting blanket.
