Chapter 184 Don’t Behave Like a Scoundrel
Finished
I was taken aback..
Shawn is particular about cleanliness and his sleeping environment. I had never seen him fall asleep so haphazardly.
Observing him, I frowned.
Shawn’s recent actions were puzzling. Was it truly the impending divorce stirring his emotions, or was he just unable to come to terms with it?
Despite deliberately making noise, Shawn remained asleep, undisturbed.
Some colleagues in the office were secretly talking about us behind our backs.
I knew they perceived Shawn and me as a couple in harmony–a facade Shawn meticulously maintained.
Suddenly, he groaned uncomfortably in his sleep and tossed his head side to side.
I I glanced his way to see his brow furrowed, sweat forming on his forehead despite the air conditioning.
I chose to ignore him and focused on my work.
Startled awake, Shawn suddenly lunged at me, enveloping me in a tight embrace.
This unexpected display caught the attention of onlookers, rendering the moment both embarrassing and awkward for me.
“Shawn, let go, I demanded, irritation flaring up.
“Tiffany, I had a nightmare. Let me hold you for a moment, okay?” he murmured, sounding distressed.
“Let go, I insisted, less gently this time, pinching his hand to emphasize my point.
Shawn’s eyes, red and intense, met mine. “Why don’t you ask what I dreamt about?”
“I don’t care.” I responded coldly.
Ignoring my discomfort, Shawn pulled my chair closer, burying his face in my chest. “I dreamt that you were dead,” he confessed in a hoarse whisper.
His words felt like a blow.
“You’re the one who’s dead. Don’t you dare curse me,‘ I snapped back, anger surging.
At that moment, Jace and several other employees appeared at the doorway. Through the glass, they could see Shawn’s inappropriate behavior, Jace paused briefly before turning and rushing away,
Humiliated and furious, I shoved Shawn back. “Don’t behave like a scoundrel, I rebuked him.
He slumped back, his gaze empty and confused.
I left the office and decided not to return as long as Shawn was there.
Seeking solitude, I walked toward a quieter path in the nearby park, my thoughts a whirl of confusion.
