Susanna quickly interjected, “Shawn, Queena has lost her child. She’s said she’ll continue working abroad but also wants to stay close to you. She likes you, and you’ve known each other for years. She’s more suitable for you than anyone else.”
“Mom, being suitable doesn’t necessarily mean being suitable as a wife,” Shawn responded, his expression unreadable. “Two strong personalities are better suited for business than for a marriage.”
Susanna fell silent at his words.
I glanced at Shawn, noting his support for me, but I was past wanting to hear it.
“Tiffany, are you really going to divorce my son?” Susanna, frustrated and unable to channel her anger, turned to me and said, “Then don’t come to regret it.”
I looked back at Shawn and stated clearly, “Yes, I want a divorce. I won’t regret it.”
Shawn’s face paled, and Yuna buried herself in his arms, quietly crying.
Shawn softly stroked Yuna’s hair, kissed her forehead, and reassured her, “Yuna, don’t cry. Mommy is just upset.”
“No, I’m not,” I countered directly. “I’ll continue handling the hotel’s affairs, but you promised me a settlement in six months, Shawn. Make sure you keep that promise.”
Shawn met my gaze, then closed his eyes briefly, and replied, “If it worries you, I’ll have it ready tomorrow.”
“Shawn, how much money did you promise her? Don’t be a fool,” Susanna urgently said.
Shawn responded calmly, “Mom, you don’t need to worry about this.”
“How can I not worry? Tiffany is playing the emotional card to squeeze more money out of you. Can’t you see that, you fool?”
I was startled. Susanna was indeed sharp, seeing right through the maneuvers I used.
Shawn looked deeply at me and said, “Mom, you’re mistaken. Tiffany isn’t manipulative. She’s very genuine, even naive.”
So this is how Shawn sees me? Naive means foolish, and genuine means dumb.
Yes, this is the fixed image. This is how he perceives me after all these years of marriage.
I remained silent, contemplating. Shawn was overly confident and quite self–centered.
Susanna, infuriated, her face flushed with anger.
She recognized my emotional play, but Shawn seemed inherently oblivious when it came to women. He would rather believe I harbored resentment rooted in love rather than heartlessness.
Thus, he was still waiting for me to drop my grudge and return to his arms, hoping I would choose to love him again.
I almost laughed. Men are inherently proud and egotistical
“Split now, don’t waste any more time. She doesn’t even respect me anymore; she’s clearly cutting ties with us,” Susanna said sharply, indicating that she saw no reason for our conversation to continue.
Shawn’s expression tightened as he picked up his tea, sipping it thoughtfully before speaking, “Mom, this is our business, so let me handle it.”
My pulse quickened. Was Shawn hesitating now?
His mother had spoken what was he waiting for?

However, Yuna clung to Shawn, shaking her head. “No, Grandma, I want to stay here and have dinner with Mommy and Daddy. It’s been so long.”
Susanna’s anger escalated. “What nonsense are you spewing? Come with me. You’re a Hartwell.”
“Enough, Mom,” Shawn interjected firmly. “Don’t talk like that in front of Yuna.”
Susanna paused, clearly wanting to make sure I heard her.
Now that Shawn was effectively running the company, he wielded significant influence over his family. Even though Susanna disliked me, she could not afford to upset her son further.
She shot me a venomous look, then stormed out.
Shawn seemed on the verge of losing his temper but composed himself, closing his eyes briefly to calm down. He then softly said to Yuna, “Let’s go get a drink, just you and me.”
“Okay, Daddy,” Yuna agreed, her voice quieter than usual.
“Mommy, won’t you come with us?” Yuna tugged at my arm.
“No, I’m not going,” I responded sharply.
Yuna’s grip loosened, and she looked down, visibly saddened.
Shawn softly suggested, “Let’s leave Mommy to relax here; we’ll bring her back something.”
Yuna nodded, and they walked away together.
I exhaled deeply, relieved by the brief respite.
When they returned, dinner was ready. Shawn focused on helping Yuna with her meal, and we hardly spoke.
Yuna occasionally glanced my way, seemingly eager to share stories about her trip to Andorwood, but I had lost interest in hearing about it.
Right then, a text from Jace popped up on my phone. He was asking to borrow 100,000 dollars.
