Chapter 193 He Understood Everything
“You’re not my exclusive possession.”

“Why say things like that? Actually, as long as you treat me equally like a person, that’s enough.” I closed my eyes, not wanting to hear these irritating things he was saying.
Shawn suddenly turned around and looked through the glass window in Jace’s direction. “Is that the new intern you brought in? I’ve never seen him before.”
I nodded. “Yes, he’s still in college. You didn’t actually believe what your mom said, did you–that he’s my kept man?”
“No, I trust that you wouldn’t do something like that.” Shawn shook his head firmly.
For some reason, his look at knowing me so well made me feel defeated.
“Don’t think you know me that well. For all you know, I was feeling lonely and empty and wanted a young guy like him.” I deliberately struck back, trying to regain some pride.
But Shawn still spoke with a firm tone, “You wouldn’t. Your moral character wouldn’t allow you to toy with someone’s feelings.”
I bit my lip in anger. “Hmph! Who says I’m toying with him? What if I seriously want to date a younger guy?”
“Then would you still get married?” Shawn looked at me with a complicated expression. “Would you?”
I was stumped by his question. I wasn’t suitable for marriage anymore.
“Why should I tell you?” I said angrily.
Shawn laughed out loud. “Tiffany, we married out of love, and now we’ve separated because of misunderstandings. Maybe, when you’re done traveling around, we’ll end up back together.”
“Impossible.” I stood up angrily, glaring at him. “Even if you were the last man on Earth, I’d rather be a widow until I die.”
Shawn looked like he was hit hard. I could see the rage waves flashing across his face, but lately, his tolerance had improved. No matter how much I tried to provoke him, hate him, or mock him, he remained emotionally stable.
“I know you’re just angry. I’ll transfer the money to your card in a bit. Let me treat you to dinner tonight …”
“No need. Just transfer the dinner money along with the rest.” I raised my hand to reject him.
Shawn was speechless.
“Yuna already talked to your parents and will be staying with them for half a month. I had someone take her to the airport. They’ve probably picked her up by now,” Shawn mentioned.
“Okay. If my parents are willing to take care of her, I have no objections,” Lreplied rather coldly.
“Yuna has changed quite a bit lately. Have you noticed?” Shawn asked again.
“No.” I was no longer concerned about Yuna.
Shawn looked at me with disappointment and sighed as he said, “Alright, then I’ll leave first. I’ll stop my mom from coming to bother you again.”
“If you can stop her, great. If not, and she dares to lay a hand on me again, who ends up dead is still up in the air.” I showed a fierce expression. “I won’t go easy on her just because she’s old.”
Shawn’s face turned pale. He nodded, standing at the doorway as if wanting to leave but hesitating. “Queena had a

“Yuna doesn’t like her anymore.” Shawn’s expression darkened. “Queena is capable, but she’s too calculating and purpose- driven–not suitable to help raise our daughter.”
I froze. Shawn directly pointed out Queena’s flaws–so he really did see everything clearly.
“Then what about me? What kind of person am I in your eyes?” I crossed my arms and asked him in an imposing tone.
Shawn’s gaze lingered on me for a few seconds before he replied, “You’re a gentle and understanding woman, just like when I first met you.”
“I’m greedy for money now too.” I reminded him.
“You just want money to protect yourself. Besides, you’re not that greedy.” After saying that, Shawn opened the door and left.
I furrowed my brows tightly. I realized now–Shawn’s scheming ran the deepest. He understood everything, yet in our past life, didn’t he still choose to hurt me to protect Queena?
As soon as Shawn left, Jace came over. “Ms. Mayfield, did you argue with your husband?”
“No.” I shook my head. “Don’t worry, it’s been handled.”
“How did he handle it? Just blindly take his mother’s side? Tell you to endure it?” Jace asked worriedly.
I shook my head. “No, I made him pay compensation.”
“But you’re married. Isn’t his money your money?” Jace looked surprised.
I sighed softly. “No, we signed a prenuptial agreement. His money is his.”
“That’s way too much! He’s guarding against you in everything. Ms. Mayfield, why haven’t you kicked a man like that to the curb yet?” Jace said, indignant on my behalf.
Looking at the young man’s innocent face, I raised my hand. “Soon. Go back to work now,”
Over the following week, neither Susanna nor Hazel appeared in front of me again. But what I didn’t expect–Queena came to find me.
