Chapter 198 I Don’t Need Your Love Anymore
When Hazel came back, she glared at me resentfully a few times, then followed them into that private room.
Finished
I knew that room was arranged for the Hartwells‘ relatives. Susanna bringing Queena in was probably to introduce her in advance.
“Ms. Mayfield, I sent you a few messages. Please take a look when you have time,” Jace said softly when he returned.
“Thank you.” I looked at him gratefully.
Jace’s expression was complicated as he nodded.
After the meal was almost over, I walked to the elevator and went to the top floor of the hotel. I had reserved a room here. At this moment, I pushed the door open and threw myself onto the sofa.
I turned on my phone. Although I couldn’t see Shawn and Queena, I could hear them talking.
Queena asked sadly, “You said before she was just a trophy wife you kept at home. Why do you care so much about her now?”
Shawn replied irritably, “That was just something I said casually. Your cousin told you that, didn’t he?”
Queena mocked. “I care about everything about you. I remember every word you say. When my cousin said you compared her to a trophy wife, I knew then–you didn’t love her anymore. Lately, your behavior has been strange. Why? Is it because I got pregnant by my ex–boyfriend?”
Shawn said in a steady voice, “Queena, we haven’t reached that point. As for your pregnancy, I won’t make any comment.”
“Shawn, I’m sorry. This child was an accident. It won’t happen again,” Queena said, and it sounded like fabric was rustling- they were probably hugging.
The next second, Shawn spoke rather coldly, “Don’t do this. It’s over between us. Stop trying to win over my mom. It’s useless.”
“You two are getting divorced.” Queena stated a fact. “After the divorce, you’ll definitely look for a more suitable woman to marry. Why can’t it be me?”
Shawn was silent for a long time before saying, “She’ll come back. I know her. The divorce is only temporary. Queena, I won’t make the same mistake again. Maybe Tiffany was right–adults should take responsibility for their words and actions.”
“Shawn, come back… Don’t leave, okay? I’ve always loved you deeply, you know that.”
“Queena, I don’t need your love anymore. Let go.” Shawn sounded even colder. Then came Susanna’s displeased voice. “Shawn, don’t hurt her like this. Queena has done a lot for you.”
Shawn chuckled. “Queena, didn’t you tell my mom how much money I gave you when we separated this time?”
Susanna was surprised, “Queena, you asked Shawn for money?”
Queena sounded very down. “He gave it to me. Susanna, I’m sorry. Maybe I really don’t deserve this. I’ll leave first.”
“Don’t go. Since you’re here, at least finish the meal before you leave.” Susanna suddenly appeared in the video.
Queena looked like she was determined to leave, but Susanna forcefully pulled her back.
The video ended there.
From their conversation, Shawn and Queena had actually decided to be together. If I hadn’t stepped away in time and made him wake up as if from a dream, reminding him of his responsibilities as a husband, they would have already crossed the final line–shamelessly entangled together in all sorts of places just like in the previous life.
