Chapter 202 Yuna’s Custody.

“Since you’re aware of my abilities, maybe you should stop with those misguided ideas. You want your sister to take over my position, even going so far as to use a few senior executives to pressure me. Ms. Lawrence, your tactics are quite impressive,” I said, flashing her a forced smile, and watching her
Susanna’s face darkened, her grip tightening around her coffee cup as she retorted, “I just don’t want someone else taking opportunities that should be mine. I’m not in the wrong”
“Sure, you’re not entirely wrong, but don’t you think it’s only fair to give a warning before taking something that doesn’t belong to you?” I said with a mocking grin.
The company is under Shawn’s control, and I’m his mom. Don’t I have some say in this?” Susanna replied, lifting her chin in defiance.
I swirled the coffee slowly and spoke in a calm tone, “You mentioned earlier that Shawn can’t bear to divorce me. Is that really
the case?
Susanna’s expression flickered, and she glanced at me with growing uncase.
I pressed on. “So, even if we do get divorced, he won’t be able to forget me.
Her face paled, and she slammed her hand on the table, demanding, “Tiffany, what are you trying to do?”
I looked up at her, a sly smile curling on my lips. “Oh, nothing really. But if you insist on sticking your nose into my affairs, 1 might get lonely and call Shawn to keep me company.”
Susanna, seething with anger, blurted out, “How dare you be so shameless? Are you trying to treat my son like crap?”
Just as I was about to respond, Shawn walked in quickly, likely having overheard the last sentence. His eyes widened in surprise as he looked at me..
I hadn’t expected Shawn to show up so suddenly, and now the words were out, with no way to take them back.
Shawn sat down next to us, his tone calm as he said, “Mom, what’s going on between you and Tiffany this time?”
“We were discussing Yuna’s custody,” Susanna said seriously, her expression stern. “Shawn, are you really considering giving Yuna to her? Don’t be too lenient. I know you love her, but love shouldn’t always mean giving in.”
Shawn looked a bit caught off guard and glanced in my direction. “Are you asking for custody of Yuna?” he asked.
I shook my head, speaking clearly and without hesitation, “No. She’s better staying with the Hartwells.”
Susanna snapped, her voice rising in frustration, “If that’s true, then why has she been running to you every single day? Don’t tell me it’s not because you have been filling her head with something!”
Shawn’s brows drew together as he said, “Mom, it was me who told Yuna to visit Tiffany. Don’t blame her. Ever since she learned about the divorce, she’s been in a bad state.”
Susanna’s eyes welled up with tears as she muttered, “With a mother so cold, it’s no wonder the child’s suffering”
Shawn glanced at me too, his expression full of disappointment, as though I was the cruel one.
I let out a slow breath–Yuna’s recent behavior had caught me off guard, but I’d already made up my mind not to interfere with her life anymore. All I could do now was fulfill the role of a mother when needed. If she reached out, I wouldn’t turn her away, but I would honor the decisions she made for herself.
to say she wanted a different mother. As long as someone treats her kindly, she’s willing to accept them in that role Im not the only one who can be her mother,” I said steadily.

But I did hear it–clear as day I spent my life playing the role of a nanny, not for recognition, but out of love and duty. And yet, in her eyes. I was never worth as much as the third wheel.
So now that I had seen the truth–that all those years of devotion meant nothing–I was simply reclaiming what I gave. That was not being cruel. That was just waking up
“Fine. Call me heartless if you want. You can shape her outlook and guide her path. I’m sure the Hartwells have everything it takes to give her a good future. Since you raised Shawn to be so impressive. I have no doubt you’ll do just as well with your granddaughter.” I didn’t want to waste time arguing over custody. In the end, we both wanted the same thing–for her to grow
into someone better
Susannas expression softened a little after I said that
She turned to Shawn with a smug look, clearly pleased with herself, and smiled. “Well, you got one thing right–my son….
“Mom, that’s enough” Shawn interrupted her flattery, his tone mild. Let’s hear what Yuna wants. If she chooses to stay with Tiffany
Tll speak to her myself and make sure she stays with the Hartwells 1 cut Shawn off before he could finish.
Susanna blinked in confusson, then asked with disbelief, “Tiffany, what on earth happened to you? In just a short time, you’ve pushed away both your husband and your child. Did you fall for someone else?”
As soon as she said that. Shawn’s eyes darkened, fixing on me with a sharp stare–he might have been wondering the same. thing
I leaned back, stretched a little then lifted my coffee for a slow sip before flashing a calm smile. What’s this about? In your eyes, your son’s some priceless gem, and you expect him to be the only one I’m allowed to admire too? You never said a word when he was messing around with Queena, but now you’re turning around and trying to pin the blame on me?”
