Chapter 203 I Want to Try
Finished
Shawn’s face flushed with awkwardness as he muttered, “It’s over between Queena and me. I’ve cut all ties–there won’t be any contact going forward.”
“Oh, so you did have something going on,” I said sharply, latching onto his words with a mocking smile.
Shawn’s face went stiff, and for a moment, guilt flashed across his features.
Susanna’s mood soured immediately–clearly, she didn’t appreciate me putting her son on the spot like that.
“Tiffany, you don’t need to make such a big deal out of it, Susanna snapped. “Even if they were involved, you’re splitting up anyway–why do you care who he sees?”
“Mom, stop making things worse, Shawn said with a darkened expression. “I did have feelings for Queena, but I stopped myself in time before anything serious happened.
Susanna huffed under her breath, clearly annoyed. “Why are you bothering to explain? In her eyes, you’ve already crossed the line.”
1 locked eyes with Shawn and gave a cold laugh. “Spare me the details of your romance with her. Whether it was in the past or it’s still to come, I truly wish you both the best. But before any of that–get the divorce papers ready.”
Susanna’s eyes went wide in disbelief. “Tiffany, when did you become so harsh? Shawn’s always been so patient with you. He doesn’t deserve this kind of treatment. If you want to act like this, maybe you should go find someone else.”
“Maybe another man wouldn’t have betrayed me,” I said bluntly.
That single remark left Susanna momentarily speechless.
Shawn, clearly irritated, pinched the bridge of his nose. “Enough, Mom. You go ahead, I’ll talk to Tiffany.”
“Don’t bother with her,” Susanna retorted, trying to pull Shawn away. “She thinks she’s the one calling the shots now, and I can’t stand it
Shawn brushed off her hand. “Mom, this is between me and Tiffany. If you’re here to take Yuna, go ahead and take her home.”
Susanna glared at me, her expression cold. “Tiffany, don’t think Shawn’s easy to manipulate. If you want something from him, remember, you need to earn it. His wealth didn’t just appear out of nowhere.”
I kept my gaze lowered, saying nothing. Despite Susanna’s bitterness, she had no choice but to leave for now.
After Susanna walked out, silence settled between Shawn and me like a heavy curtain.
I stared out the window at the busy street, then glanced at my watch. “I need to get to work,” I said flatly.
Shawn hesitated as if struggling with his words, then reached out and gently tugged me back into my seat. “Tiffany, I’ll go through with the divorce–and I’m willing to divide some of the assets with you. But I’ll need a few days to get everything sorted, so please be patient.”
I listened in silence and gave a quiet nod. “Alright. I trust you.”
“You’ll need to step up more with the hotel,” Shawn said, his eyes steady on mine. “I have confidence in what you can do.”
I nodded again. I wanted to prove myself. Work was finally starting to come together, and I could feel things shifting in the
right direction.
Then, out of nowhere. Shawn asked, “Do you have any plans for after the divorce?”
His question caught me off guard. I shook my head and replied, “Not really. I just want to focus on work for now”
