Chapter 207 Different Man

Finished

He wore a crisp white shirt, the fabric draping effortlessly over his lean frame. There was a lazy, almost regal air to him, as if elegance flowed naturally through his veins. A seablue diamond stud gleamed in his left ear, an understated mark of wealth. It added to the nobility that seemed to settle between his brows, giving him an aura of quiet authority

I quickly fumbled through my bag, pulling out a sunhat and placing it on my head. I didn’t want them to recognize me

Yeah, had my fun. Time to get back to work, Jace’s voice floated over to me, smooth and easy

Mr. Jace, you really go out of your way to make life hard on yourself. Who’s out there that you can’t forget? The teasing tone came from another man, his curiosity almost too obvious

Jace shrugged, a casual movement that spoke volumes. She’s someone important to me.”

Then, from the side, a girl, walking the furthest from Jace, leaned in close and whispered with a grin, Henry might break your legs if you get a girlfriend.”

I was still listening, trying to keep my distance when, without warning, I bumped into someone

The man, noticing me, let out a loud, exaggerated gasp. Without a second thought, he tossed his thermos to the floor. Hey, lady! You broke my cup! What are you going to do about that?”

The thermos crashed to the ground with a sharp sound, shattering into pieces. The noise echoed through the air, startling everyone nearby

I froze. Even jace and his group, once walking ahead, stopped and turned to look

I tried to hide, but it was too late. The two middieaged men were already closing in, their intentions clear

I looked over at Jace, hoping for some kind of help

And, of course, our eyes met. He stopped dead in his tracks, his expression unreadable

The two men grinned, their eyes glinting with amusement as they focused on me. Lady, I know you didn’t mean it, but this thermos means a lot to me. It was a gift from my mom.”

How much? I’ll pay for it,I offered, wanting to put an end to this quickly

The men exchanged a glance, preparing to speak, when Jace strode up to us How much? I’ll pay

The men hesitated, taken off guard by his presence. Realizing the crowd gathering around them, they quickly backed down. One of them grumbled, “A hundred and fifty should do. Guess I’ll take the hit

I reached for my wallet, but Jace took the money from my hands. He handed the men some bills. This should cover it. No

more.”

The men, seeing Jace wasn’t someone to mess with, quickly grabbed the money and walked away, not another word between

them

Jace turned to me, still holding the remaining 50 dollars in his hand. Ms. Mayfield, what are you doing here?”

I took the money, tucked it into my wallet; and spoke with an icy edge. Thanks for getting me out of that mess.”

Without a second glance, I turned to leave Jace, that liar, had been the source of my worry, yet here he was in Craneport, chasing after women

Ms Mayfield His voice cut through the air as he rushed to catch up, stepping right into my path. I can explain.”

1 scoffed, a humorless laugh escaping my lips. My eyes narrowed, locking onto him. Explain what? Explam why you’re

A girl in a pink dress suddenly appeared, weaving her way through the crowd. She slid her arm possessively around Jare Land shot me a sharp glare. Who’s this, Jace? The woman you went off to work with in Hanzora: She looks older than you

Shut it.” Jace shoved her aside with a quick motion, his face now a mask of urgency. Tiffany, I know I lied, but you’ve made mistakes too.”

I blinked, confusion clouding my mind. Mistakes? I’ve been worried about you for days. And now I see my concern was just

waste

Did you throw away the contact info I gave you?Jace’s voice softened, almost pleading. Ive been waiting for you to call. You didn’t even save my number

Oh I arched an eyebrow, skeptical. How do you know I didn’t save it?”

Jace bir his lip, an embarrassed look creeping across his face. The number I gave you is the same one. When I saw your phone last time, you hadn’t saved my name.”

I frowned, a sense of frustration rising. It felt like he was just making excuses

Why would I save your number? We’re barely acquainted. I’m not that careless. My thoughts were spinning, my mood soured by the realization that his lies had ruined everything

Jace’s eyes followed me as I turned to leave, his figure lingering just behind. When I glanced back, his expression was like a child caught in the act, remorseful and unsure

I stopped in my tracks, and he hurried to catch up. Tiffany, you know you’re the first person to take my number and not contact me

I froze, then laughedsharp and incredulous. Really? What’s the reason I have to contact you?”

Jace’s face flushed, and he lowered his gaze, biting his lip nervously. You’re the first woman I’ve ever asked to contact me
