Chapter 214 A Gentle Shift
Jace chuckled. “I’ve had enough of hanging out with my friends. I’d rather not go with them anymore.”
I turned on the lights, brightening up the whole room.
“Did you sleep well?” he asked softly. “Wanna go up to Victoria Peak and check out the night view?”
I blinked, caught off guard. I glanced at the dark sky outside. “We haven’t even had dinner yet.”
Jace smiled. “We’ll eat first, then head up. Have you ever been?”

I shook my head. “No, but I’ve heard about it. Isn’t that where they have the Skyreach Spire and that hundred–year–old cable car?”
“Exactly. So–shall we go?” he asked, seeing I was already tempted.
Honestly, I’d already gotten plenty of sleep, and stretching my legs seemed like a good idea. So I nodded and agreed.
Jace seemed pretty familiar with the area. He took me to a nice restaurant for dinner, and afterward, Victoria Peak.

Sitting in the cable car, we had a panoramic view of the glittering lights of Craneport and Drakmor Peninsula. It was a stunning reminder of how enchanting this city could be.
It was already late by the time we finished and started heading back down. Jace dropped me off at home and said goodbye downstairs.
I watched his car drive off into the night, letting my emotions settle back down.
Jace was full of energy, and despite his youth, I realized he had a level–headed maturity–none of the arrogant showboating you’d expect from a typical rich kid.
The next day, it was time for me to head back to Hanzora. My short break was over. Before I left, I sent Jace a quick message.
I remembered what he had said before about wanting to return to work, and I agreed.
Back in Hanzora, I met up with Melanie for lunch. I brought her a Bvlgari bracelet, and she lit up as soon as she saw it, showing it off proudly. “My life’s finally turning around! Having such a generous rich bestie–just wait, once I start making real money, I’ll take you out on an adventure!”
I smiled, lips curved. Melanie always knew how to say the right thing. “Alright then, I’m holding you to that. Don’t forget what you just said when you make it big,” I teased.
Suddenly, Melanie leaned in a little. “Hey, did you know Mr. Hayes‘ company is about to go public in Craneport?”
I paused, surprised. “Really? Then I should congratulate him sometime.”
“If the IPO goes well, he might be worth billions overnight,” Melanie said, lowering her voice. “Tiffany, you should move fast and lock him down.”
“What for?” I laughed lightly. “His money is his business–it’s got nothing to do with me.”
“He likes you!” she said excitedly. “You have no idea–Mr. Hayes is seriously in demand right now. All the rich girls are after him. He’s practically the golden bachelor.”
I couldn’t help picturing Ethan’s handsome face in my mind–young, good–looking, insanely capable. Yeah, he was impressive. But I’d had that kind of man before. It wasn’t anything new to me anymore.
“I actually hope he finds someone well–matched and has one of those passionate, movie–worthy romances,” I said honestly. “He’s a great guy. He shouldn’t waste his time on someone like me. He deserves better.”

I burst out laughing. “Wow, look who’s suddenly all philosophical.”
“Learned it from you.” Melanie replied with a playful glare.

After lunch, I headed back to the apartment. This place was officially under my name now–it would be my long–term home.
As I pulled up, I noticed a black Maybach parked on the side of the road, hazard lights flashing.
I squinted at the license plate. Sure enough, it was Ethan’s. My mind buzzed.
I quickly parked nearby, and just then, the back door of the Maybach swung open. A tall, lean figure stepped out and began walking in my direction.
I got out of my car just as Ethan approached with a gentle smile in his eyes. “You’re back.”
“What are you doing here?” I asked. genuinely surprised.
He glanced up at the apartment building behind me and smiled sheepishly. “I’ve been waiting for you. I didn’t know which building you lived in.”
“You needed something?” I asked.
He looked straight at me, eyes bright with emotion. I just wanted to see you. My company made a huge leap forward today, and I wanted to share the moment with someone.”
I froze.
The next second, Ethan suddenly leaned down and kissed me on the forehead. “Tiffany, you and Shawn are divorced now, right?”
“You know already?” I stared at him in disbelief. I had been so discreet about it–how on earth did he find out?
“I’ve been keeping an eye on things,” he admitted, smiling bashfully. “So, what’s your plan next?”
