On the other side, Fraser arrived at the company rooftop and looked coldly at Darlena, who was standing outside the railing
“How
dare you show up in front of me?”
If it weren’t for Darlena’s interference abroad, Fraser and Mirabel’s relationship would never have become this strained.
Tarlena looked at him with pleading eyes. “Fraser, we have two children. Don’t you want me anymore?”
After everything that had happened, she understood that men could be heartless and unreliable. But she had grown up pampered, and later, Fraser had kept her, so she never learned any survival skills. She couldn’t support herself, let alone care for two
Now, she had no choice but to beg Fraser, hoping that for the sake of their past, he would take her in.
Fraser sneered. “If you hadn’t caused trouble between us, how could things have gotten this far with Mirabel? I’d love to kill you right now. And as for these two children–they’re just a pair of bastards, I don’t care whether they live or die.”
His cruel words shattered Darlena’s last shred of hope. She collapsed to the ground, her eyes filled with despair.
She no longer had any will to live.
In her extreme despair, an unprecedented fury rose inside her. “I spit on you! Did I really break your relationship with Mirabel? If you were really a man of integrity, could I have seduced you into my bed time after time? Now that you’ve had your fun, you’re blaming it all on me? A tly doesn’t land on a seamless egg–you’re the scum who got mixed up with me in the first place!”
Fraser laughed and gave her a final glance, as though watching a circus act.
Before leaving the rooftop, Fraser heard Darlena’s hoarse scream, “Fraser! I curse you to never get what you want! May you never have peace!”
Fraser sneered.
But when he stepped out of the company building, several dark figures quickly fell in front of him. They crashed to the ground like watermelons falling from a shelf. With a muffled thud, their bodies shattered, and their insides splattered everywhere.
Bright red blood and white tissue splashed onto his face.
Fraser froze for a few seconds. When he realized what had happened, his face turned pale.
At that moment, he didn’t know if he felt more fear or shock.
Someone had died here. The police took him to the station to take a statement, and when he returned home late at night, he found the bodyguards had been drugged and tied up, the surveillance cameras destroyed, and Mirabel had already disappeared
without a trace
He was on the verge of losing his mind, shaking the unconscious butler, shouting at him, asking what had happened.
The butler was shaken awake.
“Sir, it was your uncle… He brought people in and took Madar away.”
“That bastard!” Fraser spat the words between his teeth. At that moment, he wished he could chew his uncle alive.
He immediately instructed his men to block off the city’s transport, but it was already too late. Mirabel was on a private plane, leaving the country.
After a whole day of flight, the plane landed in a small town abroad.
Aston had already arranged a house and some acquaintances for her there. Mirabel settled in.
“It’s been five days, everything is settled. Why aren’t you leaving yet?”
Aston was taken aback, this was the eighth time Mirabel had asked him to leave. “I… I wanted to wait until you were more familiar with the surroundings….
“I’m already familiar with this place. No need to worry about me,” Mirabel said, locking the door as she prepared to go to a nearby restaurant for dinner. “I’m grateful for your help, but I’ve helped you before. Now, we’re even. Of course, if you need anything, I’ll treat you to a meal before you leave.”
Aston lowered his head, looking dejected. “Do you hate me?”
Mirabel smiled faintly. “I thought I made it clear enough.”
She never wanted to be involved with any man from the Mars family again.
Aston bitterly smiled. “I’ll leave this afternoon.”
“Then–wish you a safe journey.”
Mirabel lived in this small town for three years
During those three years, she developed several successful technological products and founded her own company. However, since she couldn’t publicly show her face, all the companies were registered under Keely’s name.
From time to time, Aston would send her gifts.
Sometimes it was gemstones, sometimes a fallen leaf, or a few feathers of different colors.
During holidays, even though he knew Mirabel didn’t welcome him, he still came.
It was obvious that he liked her, and Mirabel could see that.
But she had no interest in entering another uncertain relationship. She felt that moving forward alone was just fine.
No need for someone to walk alongside her.
During the third New Year, she firmly rejected Aston.
And as the fourth New Year approached, Mirabel heard news about Fraser again–this time, it was his death.
All these years, he had been madly searching for Mirabel’s whereabouts, but with Aston constantly hindering him, he found nothing
Fraser gradually went insane. A few years ago, he had barged into Aston’s office with a knife, nearly killing him.
Besides being unable to find Mirabel, he often couldn’t sleep at night. Every time he closed his eyes, Darlena and her two children would appear in his dreams, their bodies covered in blood, staring at him wordlessly.
Mirabel didn’t know whether it was retribution or just his guilty conscience.
As time passed, he developed severe depression, and a few days ago, he jumped off the company’s rooftop, holding his photo with Mirabel.
Mirabel returned to the country to attend his funeral.
The priest read Fraser’s will, which was brief:
wedding
“When I cheated, I thought I had only made a small, forgivable mistake. But it turned out my entire life was ruined from that
moment on
“I’m sorry.”
The deceased was gone, and the past grudges vanished with him. At this moment, the memory that came to Mirabel’s mind was of when she was eighteen, and a blushing Fraser stood in front of her. “Hello, classmate. Can we exchange contact information?”
The sun had been just right, shining on his side profile.
Just like now, as the light gently touched his coffin.
