She thought about it–it Paisley could help Brittany carn forgiveness from the Levine family, then she would tolerate it, and maybe even accept her as a daughter again. At worst, she would just treat her a little better.
After all, this girl had money, and that money would eventually be spent on her. Once she sweet–talked this stubborn girl, she would have her help Brittany write a TV series and buy resources to make Brittany a big star.
Just as Christina was lost in her fantasies, Paisley’s cold voice shattered her illusions, “Mrs. Sullivan, I don’t think you’ve understood the situation. You need me as your daughter. But I don’t need you as my mother.”
“Your” Christina glared at Paisley furiously, her finger almost jabbing Paisley’s face. “Paisley, you ingrate! Are you saying you don’t even recognise your own mother anymore? Let me tell you, no matter how I’ve treated you, I’m still your mother Regalbe
Don’t worry. When you and Gregory can’t take care of yourselves anymore, I’ll provide for you,” Paisley replied with a calm, indifferent tone.
Christina screamed at Paisley, finally losing control of her emotions. “You lowlife! I should’ve choked you to death when I had the chance! I shouldn’t have let you live to this day! You should’ve been with that wh-”
Christina suddenly stopped mid–sentence, as if realizing something. But it was too late–Paisley had already caught it.
“What were you going to say? I should’ve been with who? And then what?” Paisley asked.
Christina shot her a murderous glare. “What are you talking about? Anyone who had a daughter as lowly as you would’ve been driven insane by now! Ugh, I’m so mad!”
Diana couldn’t stay silent any longer. “What kind of mother are you? Sure, it’s understandable to have feelings for the daughter you raised, even if she’s not your own. But Paisley is your biological daughter! How can you treat her like this? How could you be so heartless?”
Even Lauren couldn’t stand Christina’s behavior anymore. She’d felt some sense of shared hardship with Christina before, but now she realized it had all been an illusion.
At most, Lauren had just disliked Paisley in the past. But Christina went so far as to treat her own biological daughter this cruelly. And she even had the nerve to call her own daughter a “lowlife” repeatedly. She was simply a monster.
Lauren couldn’t help but think that if anyone dared treat Kayla like this, she would lose her mind. “No wonder Paisley ran away from home back then. If I had a mother like you, I’d run away too!” Lauren glared at Christina angrily, unable to contain her frustration.
The other ladies and young women present were equally indignant, glaring at Christina and Brittany. They’d seen plenty of mothers favoring illegitimate children, but it was rare to see someone favor an adopted daughter over their own biological
one.
And the worst part was that Christina not only treated Paisley poorly, but she also had the audacity to use her “biological mother” title to attend these high–society gatherings and help Brittany build connections. Talk about favoritism taken to the
extreme.
And if Brittany were at least decent, it might’ve been excusable. But Brittany was neither as beautiful nor as capable as Paisley. Worst of all, she had a bad heart.
None of the ladies present believed Brittany had unintentionally fallen and scratched the other person’s face back then. If it was true, why would she falsely accuse Paisley of pushing her? It screamed guilty conscience. And in the end, it was Paisley who cleaned up the mess.
“This is absolutely infuriating. Brittany must be your real daughter, right?” Daisy said, her swollen face making her words slightly slurred.
