Dominick got anxious. Could Paisley be injured? 

He knew hospitals used wristbands to categorize patients during major emergencies. Green bands indicated non–urgent cases with mild symptoms. Both Serena and the nanny were wearing gre absence worried him. 

Without hesitation, he walked over to them. “Where’s Paisley?” 

Maria jumped at his sudden appearance. “You scared me!”

Lauren and Kayla also looked at Dominick curiously. 

“Yeah, bro, who’s that kid? She’s pretty cute,” Kayla added. 

“Paisley’s daughter, Dominick reluctantly admitted. Just seeing Serena reminded him of Max’s infuriating face. 

“What?” Kayla exclaimed. This was her first time seeing Paisley’s rumored daughter. I have to say, she really looks like my 

sister–in–law.” 

“She’s not your sister–in–law anymore, so stop calling her that, Lauren scolded Kayla 

Initially, after the incident with Marissa, Lauren had wanted Dominick and Paisley to reconcile. But over time, as she watched her son grow thinner and bury himself in work to distract himself from Paisley, her anger toward Paisley only grew, 

On top of that, the fact that Paisley had a child with someone else made Lauren even more unwilling to see them get back together. She had been planning to introduce Dominick to someone more suitable, but now this incident had complicated things 

Just then, Lauren noticed that Claire wasn’t by Grayson’s side. When she had arrived, Grayson had been lying alone on a small bed in the crowded hallway. 

“Where’s Claire? Lauren asked, her face darkening 

The Vanderbilt family members exchanged glances, realizing that Claire was absent, 

“Could Ms. Horn be seriously injured?” Kayla speculated. 

Given how responsible Claire usually was, it was unlikely she would leave Grayson by himself. So injury seemed like the only explanation.

But before his words had fully settled, Claire emerged from the restroom, her legs perfectly intact. Aside from a few scrapes, she appeared unharmed–and she wasn’t even wearing a wristband. 

Seeing this. Lauren couldn’t hold back her anger. “Claire, I asked you to take care of Sonny. Is this how you do your job? Leaving an injured child alone here?” 

Claire panicked, not expecting the Vanderbilt family to arrive so quickly. 

“Madam, I’m so sorry. I couldn’t hold it any longer and just stepped away to use the restroom. I even asked this young doctor to watch over Sonny for me,” she explained motioning to the intern who was treating Grayson’s wounds. 

But the intern didn’t even acknowledge her, focusing entirely on Grayson’s treatment. 

“Never mind that right now,” Lauren snapped. “Tell me this–why did you take Sonny to a children’s restaurant? Didn’t you say you were taking him to a bookshop for some educational time? How did it turn into a restaurant trip?” 

Claire quickly explained. “I did take Sonny to the bookshop. On the way back, Sonny saw that girl. She pointed toward Serena. “And insisted on eating at the children’s restaurant with her. I warned Sonny that the food there wasn’t clean, but he refused to leave 

Lauren was in no mood for excuses. Her beloved grandson was not only injured from the explosion but had fainted from the sight of blood 

This shouldn’t have happened!” she shouted. “What’s the use of telling me all this now? I hired you to take care of Sonny. Look at him now–injured and unconscious! And look at you, perfectly fine. How can I believe you’re capable of taking care of Sonny? 

“Exactly, Mom, Kayla chimed in, sneering at Claire. “I told you from the start that hiring some fresh college graduate was unreliable. Who knows what kind of ulterior motives she might have?” 

Claire squirmed under the hostile glares. It was true she’d once had ulterior motives, but those dreams were no longer feasible, so she’d abandoned them. For now, the job paid well and wasn’t demanding, so she’d resigned herself to working ast Grayson’s tutor. 

But listening to their words, she knew they were planning to fire her. Not wanting to lose her job, Claire decided to shift the blame. Pointing angrily at Maria and Serena. 

“It’s all their fault! If they hadn’t drawn Sonny’s attention, he wouldn’t have stayed at that restaurant. When the incident happened, they were the ones dragging Sonny away! If they hadn’t interfered, Sonny wouldn’t have been hurt. Look at me- I’m unharmed! It’s their fault!” 

Maria, who had been quietly observing, was stunned to find herself suddenly targeted. 

Meanwhile, at the villa, Paisley had managed to finish her work early and was heading home. From a distance, she noticed the house lights were off. 

Could Maria and Serena be out?” she wondered, walking up to the door. 

Upon entering, the house was indeed empty. She pulled out her phone to call Maria, only to find it was dead. 

After plugging it in to charge, she saw multiple missed calls and messages from Maria, Before she could open the messages, Lucy called. Paisley, get to the hospital now! Rena and Maria are injured!
