Dominick’s gaze swept over the three attendants, his cold eyes signaling them to release Maria. The attendants, startled by Dominick’s glare, immediately let go of Maria.
“Dominick, you’re here too. You must know what’s going on, right?” Lauren smiled and stepped forward. “I confirmed the results with your dad this morning, and we came right over with gifts. Your grandfather knows and is so happy, he just wants to see his great–granddaughter.”
“Go home.” Dominick coldly uttered these two words.
“Go home? We haven’t even seen Serena yet, and you want us to leave?” Lauren was unwilling, she wanted to see her granddaughter.
Yesterday, all her attention had been on her grandson, and she hadn’t even looked at her granddaughter properly.
Yeah. Dom, your mom and I just wanted to see the kid, that’s all, Reginald said.
Dominick stepped out, closing the hospital door behind him, clearly not planning to let them in. “Go back. Don’t come again. They don’t want to see you.”
“But I-“Lauren wanted to argue, but Reginald pulled her hand. “Let’s go, don’t make this more awkward than it needs to
be
Lauren felt unwilling, but she knew there was no way she would see her granddaughter today.
Then how about we don’t go in, but just bring these gifts for Serena?”
Maria curled her lip and snapped, “Take them back. Rena doesn’t need anything. And if she does, her mom will buy it for her. With that, Maria shoved past Lauren, walking into the room without a second thought.
Shortly after. Paisley’s voice came from inside the room. “Maria, lock the door.”
A second later, there was the sound of the door locking. The message was clear; not only could Lauren and Reginald not enter, but neither could Dominick
Dominick’s eyes darkened, and a dry feeling rose in his throat. Lauren saw the expression on her son’s face and regretted her earlier forcefulness. “Was it the wrong time for your dad and me to come?”
If they hadn’t come, maybe Dominick could have spent more time with them inside.
“Go back, Dominick responded calmly.
“What about you?” Lauren asked, feeling some sympathy.
Tll go back to the company. With such a large group under his control, he, as the decision–maker, couldn’t afford to neglect his work over personal matters.
Outside the hospital room, it finally became quiet. Paisley called Lucy, asking her to send two people over to guard the door. to make sure no unwanted visitors came in.
At Vanderbilt Manor, Paul was eagerly waiting by the front gate.

Chapter 225
He knew Serena had just had surgery and couldn’t walk, so he wouldn’t be able to see her anytime soon.
That’s why he specifically told Lauren to go to the hospital, apologize properly, and try to gain the forgiveness of Serena and Paisley. He also asked her to take photos and videos for him, ideally a live video call, so he could talk to Serena.
“Great–grandpa, are you waiting for grandma and grandpa?” Grayson was in much better condition today than yesterday. After changing into clean clothes, he didn’t look so disheveled.
There were still a few spots on him that needed daily dressing and bandaging, and they hurt, but they didn’t affect his ability
to move around.
“Yeah,” Paul said as he sat down, holding Grayson in his arms. Although Paul was unhappy with how Lauren spoiled Grayson, he couldn’t help but care for and like him.
As he touched Grayson’s wounds, he asked with concern, “Does it still hurt?”
Grayson nodded. “It hurts.” He thought about it–if it hurt this much for him, how much must it hurt Rena, who had surgery?
“Sonny, did you know you have a little sister? Paul asked.
Grayson nodded. After waking up this morning, he had heard his aunt mention it. She said Rena was his real sister, one from the same dad and mom.
So, his feelings were complicated. He felt some regret, but also some anticipation. He regretted not being better to Rena before and even helping Stella bully her. But now, he was looking forward to playing with Rena again. If that happened, maybe Mom would come home too.
Just then, they saw Lauren and Reginald returning with grim faces, clearly disappointed. Seeing their faces, Paul didn’t need any further explanation.
“Did you get sent back?” Paul mocked, showing no mercy to
the couple.
Kayla walked out of the studio with watercolor stains still on her hands. Seeing her parents‘ expressions, she couldn’t help but make a sarcastic remark. “I knew this would happen, so I didn’t go.”
They would’ve just been kicked out anyway. How embarrassing.
Paul was also angry. “Pathetic, can’t even apologize properly.”
He shouldn’t have expected anything from them. They were so used to a life of luxury and adoration. How could they lower themselves to apologize? It seemed that if he wanted to see his great–granddaughter, he’d have to do it himself.
After Reginald returned, he went straight to the study. Lauren sat on the living room sofa, accepting the coffee brought by the servant. At this time, she received a reminder about the afternoon coffee from the Ladies‘ Association.
It was then that she remembered today was the day for their Ladies‘ Association meeting. She turned to Kayla and said, “Get ready, you’re coming with me to the Ladies‘ Association this afternoon.”
Marissa used to accompany her, but now she’d have to have Kayla go instead.
Kayla felt her scalp tingle the moment she heard the words “Ladies‘ Association.” She snapped. “I’m not going! Listening to a bunch of people who have nothing to do with me gossiping is such a waste of time. I’d rather stay home and paint.”
With that, she bolted back to her studio like she was escaping. No matter how much Lauren called for her, she just ignored
her.

Dominick had been in meetings nonstop since he arrived at the office. He had just gotten a breather when his secretary walked in with a thick stack of files, placing them on his desk one by one.
Dominick habitually picked up the closest file, expressionless as he skimmed through it. The secretary stood cautiously on the other side, occasionally glancing at Julian.
She wasn’t doing this for no reason–she wanted to gauge Dominick’s mood from Julian. Lately, Dominick’s mood had been. all over the place, leaving his staff in constant fear of his temper.
Today, even Julian couldn’t tell if Dominick was in a good mood or not, so he couldn’t give the secretary a definitive answer. The secretary began to worry. But just then, Dominick looked like he was about to say something.
The secretary had been prepared for Dominick to toss the file at her, like he often did. Instead, he asked, “When you were three years old, what kind of toys did you like?”
