Hearing this, I couldn’t help but tear up.
Nick cocked his head, watching me closely. “Why are you crying again? After all this time, please don’t tell me you’re thinking about that j*rk again.”

No, it wasn’t about Eddie. It hit me then just how diverse love had become, and I wasn’t limited to those memories tied to my
Right then, I knew I didn’t want to shed any more tears over him.
Nick broke the silence. “So, can I still be your boyfriend? Just to clarify… you wouldn’t have to pay me, it would be totally free.” I nodded, wiping away my tears and allowing a smile to spread across my face.
News of our budding relationship exploded like a bombshell between our families.
Bruce, clearly caught in a dilemma, tried to explain, “Here’s the situation…”
He looked at Nick, then added, “It’s not likely, but there’s always a slim chance for some genetic mutation.”
Nick’s parents apologized, “Sure, our son may be a fool… but he’s the kind of fool who actually cares.”
In the end, my parents gave their reluctant approval of our relationship.
That day, Nick held my hand, beaming like he had just won the lottery. “Guess what? I’m officially taken now! I’m not just one of those lonely guys anymore!”
He promised earnestly, “I might not be the sharpest tool in the shed, but I’m the early bird! Well, maybe I’m a bit late on that front, but I’ll keep at it every single day.”
He grinned, determination in his eyes. “Being your boyfriend means you’ll never have to suffer. I’ll make sure of it!”
Nick was a goofy bird, just like me.
Life was long, and the scenery was beautiful, so why not take our time to enjoy the flight?
That night, I received a long–awaited call from Eddie.
His voice was strained and heavy with emotion. “My mom’s really sick. She wants us to get married as soon as possible…”
I couldn’t help but feel a mix of pity and amusement. “Eddie, is this because of your mom that you’re suddenly reaching out to me?”
There was a long pause on his end. Just when I thought of hanging up, he hurriedly insisted, “No! That’s not it!”
After a moment, he continued, “I’ve finally figured something out… I really like you, and I can’t imagine my life without you. Please come back. Just give me a chance…”
I interrupted him, my voice steady, “Sorry, but I don’t want you anymore.”
Eddie had tried to reach out before.
One day, Nick and I discovered a trendy new shop near campus. He frowned at the menu. “What’s this? Sweet fruit mixed with all this weird stuff? Are you sure it’s edible?”
I grinned. “Weird stuff is usually a no–go, but when it looks this bizarre, it’d be a shame not to try it!”
We ended up waiting in line for two hours, looking like fools.
Nick took a bite of his mango with green pepper and grimaced. “This is terrible.”
I dipped a grape into the watermelon juice and laughed. “Yeah, it’s definitely not great.”
We both burst into laughter, covering our mouths as if we were in pain.
Then Eddie showed up, glancing at Nick but clearly not giving him a second thought.
His eyes landed on my plate of strange concoctions, and he scoffed. “This place is fooling people. You’re really eating that?” I retorted, “I like it, so what?”
Eddie continued, “You waited in line for this? With all that time, you could’ve done something meaningful instead.”
I said, “I like it! So what?”
He fell silent, then turned to Nick. “So you’ve been hanging out with this loser?”
I stepped in front of Nick, my voice firm. “Eddie, watch your mouth. Nick is my boyfriend now, and you have no right to talk about him.”
ด
Eddie’s expression turned even more peculiar. After a moment, he scoffed, saying, “Boyfriend? You’re seriously dating him just to get under my skin? I admit I messed up before and didn’t appreciate your feelings. I’m willing to apologize and make things right. What else do you want from me?”
I was too furious to respond, but Nick raised his voice, “Who do you think you are? Why are you even here? I’m out with my girlfriend, and it’s none of your business!”
He popped another piece of mango into his mouth, smacking his lips dramatically. “This is my girlfriend’s order. What’s it to you?”
Then, without missing a beat, he casually tasted a grape, savoring it. “These grapes are so sweet. My girlfriend loves them! But again, what’s it to you?”
Eddie’s face darkened as he was pushed back by Nick’s boldness.
I stared at Nick, bewildered. “You really like them?”
In the next moment, Nick turned to the trash can and spat. He yelled, “Ugh, give me some water! It’s both spicy and sweet- this is gross!”
Eddie always believed I was with Nick just to get a rise out of him.
Until we announced our engagement, Eddie, usually so aloof and proud, lost his composure and barged into our engagement party.
He looked heartbroken as he confronted me. “Are you really going to marry this loser? Feel free to throw a tantrum, but don’t gamble with your future just because you’re upset!”
In the end, Eddie shot a glance at Nick and muttered, “I knew you were dim, but I didn’t think you’d be this clueless.”
Holding my bouquet, I strode toward Eddie with purpose. As Eddie flashed a relieved smile, thinking I was rushing to him, I slapped him hard enough to snap him back to reality.

“Eddie, you’re a guest here. If you’ve come to bless Nick and me, then welcome. But if you’re here to stir up trouble and embarrass my fiancé, don’t blame me for being rude!”
Eddie stared at me, finally realizing I was serious about marrying Nick.
