Chapter 102 Birthday Invitations and Breakups
Summer picked up.
“Summer, it’s my birthday today. You coming?” Caleb asked.

In past years, Trevor had always brought her to Caleb’s parties. Beyond her tie to Trevor, Caleb was a decent friend. But Trevor would likely be there, and she didn’t want to see him.
“Sorry, I’ll pass. I’ll send a gift someday later.” Summer replied.
After a few seconds of silence, Caleb asked, “Summer, is there really no chance for you and Trevor?”
“Yeah, we’re done.” Summer replied.
Hearing the finality in her voice, Caleb silently mourned for his buddy. “Got it. You’re not just Trevor’s friend, you’re mine too.” Caleb said.
After hanging up, Summer transferred a thousand dollars as a present. As she was about to pocket her phone, Yvette’s voice call came through.
“Babe, I’ve been dumped!”
Summer held the phone to her ear, glancing at the documents on her desk. “Alright, who’s the guy this time?”
“Why are you so chill? I’m devastated!” Yvette asked.
It was rare to hear the usually carefree Yvette upset over a breakup. Summer set down her pen. “Wait, did you actually love him?”
“Love? No way. I’m just pissed I was dumb enough to date such a jerk. He’s that model, Quicksilver, from the entertainment world. He cheated with my rival for a lead role. When I caught him, he held a press conference claiming I cheated! I’m furious. You have no idea, several endorsements and TV deals I was negotiating are on hold now!”
Summer hadn’t checked the news yet. She opened her laptop and saw the headlines,
“Popular actress Yvette caught cheating by boyfriend.”
“Yvette’s background reflects her character.”
“Yvette, get out of the entertainment industry.”
Even as an outsider, Summer knew this was bad so she asked. “Can I help with anything?”
Yvette’s voice deflated, continued to say. “I’ll handle it. Just drink with me tonight.”
At Havenbrook’s biggest club, Black Ace, Summer arrived to find Yvette halfway through a bottle. Half- drunk, she muttered about how men were trash. Summer could only console her, knowing Yvette well, let her vent, and she’d bounce back by morning.

The VIP room door opened, revealing Trevor at the far end of the sofa. The space pulsed with colorful lights, loud music, and dancing. Expensive liquor bottles littered the tables. Yvette, still half–sober, spotted Trevor and sneered. Leaning into Summer’s car, she whispered, “Don’t worry, I’ve got you.”
Summer thought, Who’s protecting who?
Yvette’s drunken antics were unpredictable.
Bobby saw Caleb usher them in. About to kiss the woman beside him, he paused. “Well, if it isn’t the famous Ms. Stewart. Didn’t she dump Trevor? What’s this, using Caleb’s birthday to crawl back?”
Trevor’s dark eyes fixed on Summer, his cold face unreadable. Caleb shot Bobby a warning look. “She’s my friend. I invited her.”
Bobby, the spoiled heir of the Stone family, was a cocky brat, pampered by his aging father. He idolized Trevor and despised Summer for ending things, seeing her as fake.
“Invited? When Trevor ignored her before, she’d bug you for updates on him. Probably regretting it now and pulling the same stunt.”
Yvette wasn’t having it. “Did you eat garbage? Your words are stinking up the place. Reconciliation? Keep dreaming,” she snapped, her tone sharp with a hint of drunkenness.
