Chapter 123 The Distance Between Us

Fraser lifted his head, his hand resting on the side of the bed, his cold eyes fixed on her. His sharp, dark gaze seemed to pierce through her.
His deep, hoarse voice carried an ambiguous tone. That look on your face makes me feel like I’m forcing you.”
After a moment, the desire in Fraser’s eyes gradually cooled. He pushed himself up and slowly stood.
The bare–chested man with the suit pants hanging loosely at his waist stood tall and looked down at her with an unreadable expression.
As the overwhelming male presence receded, Summer’s heart slowly calmed. She looked up and unexpectedly met Fraser’s dangerous gaze.
Summer also sat up, her voice soft. “I think we both need some personal space sometimes.”
Fraser stared at her for a moment, his expression like fallen leaves after a storm.
The atmosphere in the room grew heavy, almost oppressive, under the harsh glare of the bright lights.
Fraser’s lips curled into a cold smile. “Fine.”
With that, he pulled on his clothes, stepped out, and left.
The sound of the door closing echoed in the room.
Summer slowly wrapped her arms around her legs and sat there in a daze.
For several days, Summer received no messages or calls from Fraser.
She stayed at home and painted. One by one, interior design sketches flowed from her inspired mind.
Her phone rang in the living room.
Summer answered the call.
“Babe, I’m the spokesperson for the Marloux. Today is the opening ceremony: I saw your name on the guest list. Are you coming today?”
Since Yvette had revealed the recording
She had cleared her name and proved that Quicksilver was the one who had cheated.
Yvette had gone from being the victim to the wronged party, and public opinion had instantly shifted in her favor.
Her popularity had soared even higher than before.
The endorsements–and TV dramas that had demanded compensation from her were now extending olive branches and begging her to return.
Upon hearing this, Summer remembered that her assistant Quinn had sent her the Marloux’s invitation a few days ago.
“I got it, but I might not go.”
Yvette frowned. “Why not? Something’s wrong with you. Did something happen?”

the spokeswoman”
After hanging up. Summer changed into a simple gray one–shouldered dress at home and prepared to leave.
Just as she was getting dressed, the doorbell rang
Summer was questioned. Maybe Yvette had sent someone to pick me up
She opened the door..
And she saw Julia standing there.
Julia looked a bit haggard, but her eyes lit up when she saw Summer.

“Summer, you haven’t responded to my messages or calls for the past few days. I was worried that something had happened, so I came to check on you.”
Summer’s pale face immediately darkened.
“Well, you’ve seen me now,”
Your father mentioned that you haven’t been to the company lately.” Julia said in worry.
“If you’re just here to talk about that, you can leave.”
With that, Summer closed the door and ignored them.
Julia grabbed Summer’s arm, her voice pleading. I came here today to ask for your forgiveness.”
Hearing this, Summer couldn’t help but laugh.
She turned around and looked coldly at Julia.
“Forgiveness: Forgive for what?”
“Forgive you for only remembering Margaret as your daughter when I returned to the Stewart family? Forgive you for always being prejudiced against me! Forgive you for never treating me as your daughter?
Julia’s face flushed with guilt.
“Give me a chance to make amends. Let’s forget the past and start over as mother and daughter, okay?”
Summer’s voice was icy. “Hah, you weren’t there when I needed you the most. Now that I don’t need you anymore, its too
late”
Julia’s heart ached “Summer, mothers also make mistakes. If you had grown up by my side 20 years ago, none of this would have happened. I would have loved you forever.”
Summer’s emotions exploded! She couldn’t hold back.
Just because I didn’t grow up with you, you look down on me! It was Yolanda who exchanged me and Margaret for her own selfish desires. She was willing to do anything for Margaret, but you’re my biological parents. I thought you would be my support, but instead, you’re the source of my pain.”
Julia’s heart felt like it had been stabbed with a knife when she saw the pain flash across Summer’s face.
She wanted to say more, but Summer ran away.
Watching Summer’s retreating figure, Julia fel a deep pain in her chest.
