“Quiet!” The officer questioned, “Did you have any accomplices this time?”

At the mention of this, Yolanda’s eyes flickered with a trace of hesitation. Thad no accomplicest Summer has ignored me for three years: she
was heartless and cruel. I was furious after being released from prison. That’s the only reason I did it!”
Summer cast her a cold glance before following the officer into the adjacent room for questioning.
The officer seemed to have already heard plenty of Yolanda’s sob stories.
Looking at Summer’s indifferent expression, he asked, “She’s your mother?”
“No.”
“She says she raised you for twenty years
“I suppose
“So you lived with her for twenty years?”
“I suppose.
The officer frowned, assuming this was just a family dispute between mother and daughter.
Would you consider a reconciliation?”
Summer’s response was cold. “No.”
“Ms. Stewart, Yolanda has cancer. If this is just a family conflict, I suggest you reconsider. You might regret this in the future.”
Upon hearing that, Summer’s gaze turned sharp as a blade as she stared at the officer. Then, she spoke in a calm, clear voice, “First, she’s not my biological mother; she’s the one who deliberately switched the babies at birth. Second, when she attacked. me, she accused me of stealing Margaret’s place, I have reason to believe Margaret was her accomplice. And lastly, she stabbed Trevor Larson, the Larson Group’s sons.”
The officer’s brows knitted together, finally taking the case seriously. “Understood, Ms. Stewart Thank you for your cooperation today”
After leaving the police station, Summer buried herself in work, throwing herself into it relentlessly.
The problem wasn’t just that she was working herself to the bone; she dragged the entire Stewart Group along with her. Employees were constantly staying late for endless meetings
The whole company was filled with complaints. No one understood what had gotten into Summer. She had already gone through the transition period of taking over, yet suddenly, it felt like the Stewart Group was back in an era of grueling hardship.
That day, Summer was in the middle of a meeting when she received a message from Bethany.
“Summer, my brother is doing much better. Are you free to come see him?”
At the final meeting of the day, Summer closed her folder and announced, “Everyone gets off work on time today.”
The moment those words left her mouth, a wave of relief washed over the room.
For the first time in a long while, they wouldn’t have to see the moon before heading home.
In the hospital room, luing in bed, Trevor asked Bethany, “Did you tell her?”
Bethany smirked. If he hadn’t been so badly injured this time, she wouldn’t have even bothered helping him.

er, after all
woman was too heartless. He had taken that knife for her.
Bethany teased, “If you knew this would happen, you should’ve thought twice before treating her that way”
Trevor’s patience wore thin. “Shut up”
“As if I want to be here taking care of you. With your personality, only Summer would’ve been foolish enough to chase after you back then
Trevor’s expression darkened. Just then, a knock sounded at the door. “Come in, Trevor called
The moment Summer stepped inside, the dim light in Trevor’s eyes thickered with sudden brightness.
Bethany was stunned. “Summer, you actually came?
Trevor coughed lightly and shot Bethany a cold look. “Aren’t you leaving
Bethany pouted. Typical. The moment Summer showed up, he forgot all about his own sister.
Just because she came didn’t mean anything
“Summer, I just remembered 1 have something to do. I’ll get going. With that. Bethany dashed out of the room, shutting the door behind her. Trevor’s gaze roamed over Summer, drinking in the sight of her. Summer’s expression shifted slightly. Her eyes landed on the thick layers of bandages wrapped around his chest.
After a pause, she spoke. “Thank you for taking that knife for me”
Trevor’s voice was gentle. “Summer, as long as you’re okay, that’s all that matters.”
“Sit.” Su
“Sit.” Summer remained standing. “No need. I have things to do soon.”
“Summer, do you still hate me? Trevor’s gaze was unwavering, locking onto her. “Does this at least make up for some of the things I did wrong in the past?”
Summer lowered her eyes. “Regardless of who saved me, I’d be grateful. That’s all there is to it.”
A flicker of disappointment crossed Trevor’s eyes.
“Rest well. I’ll get going. As she turned and reached the door, Trevor couldn’t help but ask,
“Summer, will you come back tomorrow?”
