Chapter 275 Feelings Are Heavy
There was silence for a few seconds. “Project?”
Under Julia’s suspicious gaze, Summer kept a straight face.
“Yes, I’ll arrange for a colleague to handle that tonight.”

Fraser seemed to catch on quickly, his deep, lazy chuckle sending a jolt through the phone.. “Tonight, just send yourself instead.”
Summer’s face instantly burned bright red.
“Tonight is too rushed… Tomorrow… Tomorrow might work better.”
Fraser raised his eyebrows. “Should I pick you up after work, honey?”
Summer clutched the phone even tighter. “Not tonight. Maybe next week?”
“Pick you up for a movie?”
Summer stammered, “Then…next month.”
Fraser’s lips curled wickedly. “And after the movie, bed?”
Summer squeezed her eyes shut. She couldn’t handle this anymore!
“Wever suits your schedule!”
quickly ended the call.
Finally, her heartbeat began returning to normal…
Under Julia’s increasingly doubtful stare, Summer calmly said, “Mom, I have a meeting soon. Why don’t you head home first?”
Julia finally remembered what she’d come for.
“Summer, how’s your search for Stewart Group’s new manager going?”
Summer suddenly recalled Lucas’s recommendation–she still hadn’t met him yet.
Julia continued, “Your aunt already found a suitable house for us. The price is reasonable, around
25 million dollars–a small three–story house with a garden, perfect for us, the baby, and a few housekeepers.”
When Julia didn’t hear Summer’s reply, she noticed her daughter frowning, lost in thought.
“Summer, what’s wrong?”

“Soon? Not at all. We’re leaving Havenbrook by the end of next month. Your belly will start. showing soon. It’ll cause unnecessary gossip.”
Summer thought briefly, then nodded. “I’ll transfer you the money.”
Julia waved her hand dismissively. “I have enough money for the house. I just wanted to remind you not to waste time.”
After finishing their talk, Julia left to meet some friends for afternoon tea.
Summer leaned back in her chair, looking out the window, thoughts swirling around Julia’s words.
Eventually, she picked up her phone and dialed Lucas’s number.
An hour later-
Her assistant knocked gently at the door.
“Ms. Summer, someone’s here to see you.
Summer stood immediately. “Please let them in.”
The office door opened, and Lucas walked in with a sharply dressed man–Peyton, the professional manager Lucas had recommended.
Summer paused briefly, surprised to see Lucas had come along personally.
cas introduced them, “This is Ms. Summer, General Manager of Stewart Group. And this is Peyton, who has over 20 years of experience in corporate management.”
Summer gestured politely to the seating area. “Mr. Lucas, Mr. Peyton, please sit.”
Summer sat opposite Lucas and Peyton.
The meeting went smoothly. Lucas facilitated the discussion, highlighting Peyton’s experience and expertise clearly to Summer.
Summer found Peyton’s business philosophy and experience aligned perfectly with Stewart Group’s needs.
Near the end of the meeting-
Peyton stood and shook Summer’s hand politely. “It was a pleasure meeting you today, Ms. Summer, Mr. Lucas. I hope we’ll have the chance to work together.”
Summer smiled warmly. “It was my pleasure, Mr. Peyton.”
After her assistant escorted Peyton out, Summer and Lucas were left alone in the office.

“Peyton has extensive business management experience. Most importantly, he’s local to Havenbrook–he’d be a stable and reliable choice for your company.”

Summer had thought the same thing. “Thank you again, Mr. Lucas. You’ve helped me out again.”
“Summer,” Lucas spoke suddenly.
She took a small sip of tea. “Hm?”
“About last night…”
Summer’s fingers tightened around her teacup.
Lucas softly apologized, “I’m sorry I couldn’t comfort you properly.”
Summer placed her cup down, speaking sincerely, “Mr. Lucas, you already saved me last night. Without you, I wouldn’t be here today.”
Lucas gazed gently at her. “But to you, I’m still just ‘Mr. Lucas.”
Summer voiced the question lingering in her heart. “Why do you like me? We haven’t known each other that long.”
Lucas’s lips curved gently. “Liking someone is just a feeling. If I said you’re the only one for me, you probably wouldn’t believe it right now. But Summer, I want you to know–I don’t mind that you’re pregnant. If you’d let me, I’d like to take care of you both.”
This affection felt unbearably heavy.
