Morgan sneered. “If you don’t say anything, who will know it was us? We’ll just find a scapegoat to
take the fall.”
Sasha pondered for a moment, then nodded. “That’s true. The Bossman is only marrying that woman because she’s pregnant. If something were to happen to the baby, maybe he wouldn’t value her so much anymore.”
Liliah hesitated, glancing at Morgan and Sasha before whispering, “Are we really doing this?”
Morgan smacked the back of her head. “If you don’t, then you’re no longer one of mine.”
Liliah winced, rubbing her head. She had no choice but to nod. “Alright…”
On the way to find Merry, Summer dialed her number. The phone rang several times before Merry finally answered.
Summer asked, “Merry, where are you?
“Summer, I… I’m in the storage room behind the villa.” Merry answered softly.
Hearing that, Summer asked further. “Why are you there? I thought you were supposed to be the
event staff?”
Merry stammered over the phone.
Summer understood immediately. The Harper family’s maids were likely trying to curry favor with Morgan by bullying Merry.
She instructed. “Forget it. Stop working and come home with me.”
Merry looked around the cluttered storage room. Metal racks filled with various items towered over her, making the space feel chaotic and overwhelming. “The butler said I can’t leave until I clean this place.”
Summer’s voice was firm. “You were hired as event staff, not a janitor. This is not even in your job scope. Just ignore them.”
Merry hesitated, but Summer was right. All this suffering for just 137 dollars? Even beasts of burden had limits.
Determined, Merry started descending the ladder step by step.
Suddenly, the screws on the ladder seemed to loosen. It wobbled dangerously, and before she could react, her foot slipped.
With a loud thud. Merry crashed to the ground, a sharn cry of nain escaping her lins.

The maid pointed in the direction. Then, Summer ordered the maid to send some help to the storage room before rushing off
The villa’s storage room was quite a distance from the banquet hall, Summer would need to walk down a narrow path to teach there.
The dim streetlights flickered, and the trees rustled eerily in the wind. Compared to the brightly lit banquet hall, the contrast was stark. One world was filled with laughter and warmth, the other was shrouded in darkness.
As she neared the storage room, she noticed its doors were wide open.
Just as she was about to step inside, she hesitated. She pressed herself against the nearby wall. waiting a moment.
Just in case anything happens. She pulled out her phone to text Fraser
But when she glanced at her screen, her heart sank. There was no signal.
Her unease deepened.
Why did Merry conveniently have an accident in the storage room? Why did my phone lese service the moment I arrived!
Her instincts screamed at her. She decided to return to the Banquet hall find Fraser, and then come back with help.
But just as she turned to leave, a territed scream echoed from within the storage room.
Summer clenched her teeth. There was no time to hesitate.
She spun around and rushed inside. “Merry! What happened”
Seeing Summer’s silhouette in the doorway, Merry let out a shaky breath of tehet. “The highes suddenly went out. And I swear I saw a ghost in the window just now. It scared me half to death?”
Summer switched on her phone’s flashlight and swept it around the dark, cluttered room until the beam landed on Merry, who was still on the floor
“We need to get out of here. Can you walk? Summer askest
Merry gritted her teeth and tried to stand, but her ankle gave way beneath her.

Merry’s eyes widened in terror. “What’s happening?! Is someone there? Help! We’re locked in!”
She fumbled for her phone, but just like Summer’s, it had lost all signal.
Summer guided her to sit against the wall before striding to the door and pounding against it.
Deep in thoughts. Her expression darkened. “Someone wanted me here. They planned this.”
Merry’s face paled as realization dawned on her. Guilt flooded her eyes. “I get it now. They used me as bait! I’m so sorry, Summer. I dragged you into this…”
