Chapter 79 You Are Overstepping
The phone was off. Bethany was stunned.

What the hell is Trevor doing? He’s pushed away a woman like Summer–someone who loves him deeply–so much that she refuses to see him even when he’s sick. Something is seriously wrong!
Frustrated, Bethany stepped inside, her three–inch heels clicking sharply against the floor.
Trevor heard the door open and instinctively turned his gaze toward the sound. His dark eyes flickered with a glimmer of anticipation, but the moment he saw it was Bethany, the light in them dimmed, disappearing without a trace.
Bethany strode to the hospital bed, hands on her hips. “Trevor, what the hell did you do? Summer is a wonderful person. She loves you, yet she’s breaking up with you?”
Bobby, ever the instigator, chimed in with exaggerated enthusiasm.
“Oh, Trevor didn’t do much. He just staged a fake wedding with Peyton, abandoned Summer on her birthday to be with Peyton, publicly rushed to save someone else right in front of her, and…”
Trevor’s expression turned dangerously dark, his voice sharp as a blade. “Bobby, get the hell out!”
His tone was so frigid, so devoid of warmth, that Bobby shuddered involuntarily.
“Alright, no need to get worked up.” Bobby raised his hands in surrender. “I’m just saying, there are plenty of women out there, you’ll land another one in no time.”
Bethany’s fury erupted.
Is Trevor an idiot? How could he treat Summer this way?
As a woman, just hearing about it was infuriating.
“Peyton? Is she your first love? D*mn it! Is she the one clinging to you? That bitch! No, it takes two to tango! You treated Summer like this, and you expect her to stay? She was right to leave. And you know what? I’m done wasting my breath on you too.”
With that, she snatched up her handbag, spun on her heel, and stormed out, her high heels hammering against the floor with each step.
Caleb shrugged, walked up to Trevor, and patted his shoulder. “Trevor, my condolences.”
Trevor shot him a withering glare, his voice laced with cold sarcasm. “I’m truly blessed with friends like you.”
Unfazed, Caleb casually pulled a book from nowhere and tossed it onto Trevor’s lap. “Since you’re stuck in bed, you might as well read this. Follow its advice, and maybe Summer will come back.”
Trevor glanced at the title. “100 Rules for Winning Back Your Wife.”
The pain in his body had already been unbearable. Now, somehow, it felt even worse.

Fraser smirked coldly, his voice low and laced with amusement. “He called you when he was sick? Since when are you a doctor?”
“He probably dialed the wrong number.” Summer lied effortlessly, unwilling to dwell on the topic. “I turned him down anyway.”
Fraser studied her intently for a few moments before speaking. “If I weren’t here, would you still have refused?”
Summer remained silent.
The air between them thickened, turning heavy with unspoken tension.
Fraser reached out, grasped her chin, and forced her to meet his gaze. “Answer me.”
Summer stared at him steadily, her voice calm yet unwavering. “Fraser, even in a relationship, people need their own space. Don’t you think you’re overstepping?”
He let out a cold chuckle. “Overstepping?”
The tension ignited instantly, both of their presences brimming with defiance.
Just then, a piercing ringtone shattered the stifling silence.
Fraser cast a glance at his phone, then shifted his gaze toward Summer’s face. Her fair complexion was as cold as ice, her eyes carrying a quiet, indiscernible defiance.
He released her chin, stood up, and strode toward the marble balcony to take the call.
Summer lowered her head and continued eating, but every so often, her gaze drifted toward the glass window, catching glimpses of the man outside.
Fraser stood against the backdrop of the night, his tall, lean frame enveloped in darkness.
With his broad shoulders and long legs, dressed in an all–black casual outfit, he usually exuded a lazy arrogance, an air of effortless mischief.
But tonight, there was an unapproachable chill to him, an oppressive stillness that made others hesitate to draw near.
Summer had to admit, she wasn’t ready for a new relationship.
She thought about it carefully. If this were Trevor, she already knew exactly what she would have done.
No, she wouldn’t have even let him get angry. The moment he furrowed his brow, she would have immediately coaxed him, softened her voice, done everything in her power to please him.
That was exactly why she needed to change.
Her gaze lingered on Fraser, standing motionless on the balcony.
Summer realized that she couldn’t carry the burdens of her past into a new relationship.
