Since that day, I began to shower my husband with kindness.
“Honey, I used to be so strict with you and our son, but after almost losing you, I’ve realized that life is meant to be lived happily. From now on, I won’t be so hard on you two.”
Both my husband and son truly believed I had changed. At first, they only dared to make small requests.
For example, my husband complained that I was always pestering him about taking his blood pressure medicine, so I stopped nagging.

prepared fried chicken, burgers, and soda, letting them eat and play as they pleased.
Over time, they realized that I wasn’t being as strict as before, and their attitude toward me softened more and more.
I, too, noticed the changes in our home and started to accommodate my husband in everything.

My husband didn’t like vegetables or fruit, so I stopped buying them. Instead, I made dishes like braised pork and sweet and sour fish every day, always finding new ways to cook them. He liked his food salty, so I made sure to add plenty of salt, just the way he liked it.

As I watched his and our son’s health steadily decline, their bodies swelling and their condition worsening, I felt a sense of satisfaction.
However, ever since their fake death failed, they had not made a single move. That left me feeling displeased.
Since they were so useless, I decided to do them a “favor” and give them a push.
So, one day, I woke up my husband, who had stayed up all night playing video games with
our son.
“What do you want? Can’t you see I’m sleeping?”
He lazily tossed a pillow at me, but I spoke

He snapped awake, stuttering for a moment, his nervousness quickly turning into anger.
“Why are you asking that? There’s no way to make money back that quickly!”
I spoke to him in a calm and gentle manner.
“My cousin from back home works in investments. She’s already bought several big houses and even drives a Benz now.”
“She introduced me to a financial plan that supposedly doubles your money in a month. We didn’t have the funds before, so I didn’t mention it to you. Now that we have some, how about we take the money from your

My husband, not very educated, was intrigued. His eyes darted around, but he was still doubtful.
“Is it really that good? Let me sleep on it and talk to my mom.”
“Of course! One of my friends invested ten thousand the other day, and she’s already gotten
half of it back.”
I smirked inwardly. It wasn’t just my mother–in–law he should ask. He should bring in Lena and our son too, and they can all discuss it together.
But whether they believed in this “investment opportunity” or not, my real goal was to sow discord between them.

After finishing my conversation with Nick Herty, I immediately posted a status update visible only to Lena:
“Just discovered a really lucrative investment, still thinking about it. Hubby says he has the money and wants to invest it all with me–he loves me so much!”
Soon, Nick Herty’s phone rang.

He glanced at the screen, then quickly retreated to another room to take the call.

On the other end, Lena’s voice came through, tightly restrained with fury.
“Investment? You’re talking about investing in that fool? What does he know about investments? This sounds like a scam, really. If you look it up online, you’ll see how many frauds like this are out there.”
“You should stop thinking about any investments. It’s safer to stick with our original plan.”
Nick Herty lowered his voice. “You still don’t trust me?”
“Nick Herty, you heartless wretch! I lost my job just to help you two play this game!”

There was a long silence after that. I guessed Lena must have been so enraged that she hung up.
That evening, my mother–in–law thought I was asleep. She dragged Nick Herty and our son to the living room to have a chat.
