Chapter 2
“I’m your husband. Your period’s been late for a month, your appetite’s off, and your sleep’s been poor. It’s almost certain that you’re pregnant.”
I had to admit, Gavin was incredibly observant!
It was precisely his attention to detail and tenderness that my parents had chosen him as my marriage partner.
Of course, there was another reason: Gavin was an orphan who had risen from nothing to become a new force in the business world.
I still remember the first time I met him, arranged by my father. I fell for him instantly!

So, I agreed to the marriage arranged by my parents without hesitation.
After we got married, Gavin treated me like a queen, always responsive and thoughtful in
every way.
His presence made me feel like all the fairy tale princes paled in comparison!
As I reflected on our past, the more it hurt, the more impossible it seemed that he could have cheated on me.
Tears fell again, uncontrollably.
“Baby…”
Gavin’s eyes flashed with panic as he stepped forward to wipe away my tears.

“I’m sorry! I’m really sorry! I should’ve been more discreet. I shouldn’t have let you find out about my affair!”
What was he saying?
I could hardly believe what I was hearing.
“Do you think cheating isn’t wrong? The real problem is that I found out?”
Karena seized the opportunity to chime in, “Enough, Gavin! She knows everything, so stop blaming yourself! Besides, you’re worried about her child, but what about
mine? What does that make mine?”
“A bastard!”
Gavin snapped, pointing at her in fury. “Our issues can be dealt with later. Right now, get
out!”

“I’m not going anywhere!”
Karena sprang up from the bed, grabbing his arm. “Gavin, I won’t sugarcoat it. This whole situation was my plan! I want you to divorce Emonie and marry me! My child’s been a bastard for five years!”
“Five years?”
I whispered, my lips trembling. “You’ve been sleeping together for five years?”
“Yes!” Karena’s tone dripped with smugness. “You didn’t expect this, did you? Even before marrying you, your husband was already sleeping with me, and we’ve been at it for years!”
Her voice oozed arrogance. “If you don’t believe me, ask him!”

My chest heaved, each breath like a knife tearing at my broken heart.
“Gavin, is she telling the truth?”
Gavin didn’t hesitate for a second. He nodded. “It’s true! But baby, please don’t be mad, think of the baby inside you!”
“You’ve been lying to me for so long?!”
I scream
my vision blurring with tears.
“How could you do this to me? You promised you’d love me forever, no matter what- whether we were rich or poor, whether we lived or died, it was always supposed to be just you and me! But you cheated, you had a bastard child, and you hid it from me for five years! FIVE YEARS!”
I couldn’t control my right hand as it swung

toward his left cheek.
Slap!
The sound was crisp, like the shattering of all my trust in him.
Gavin tilted his head and sighed, not saying a word.
Suddenly, Karena screamed and fell backward.
It was Gavin who shoved her!
“Get out! My wife is emotionally unstable right now. If you provoke her again, I’ll kill you!”
Karena stared at him, incredulous. “She slapped you, and you didn’t dare to get angry at her, but you’re yelling at me?”

“You deserve it! Now get out!”
Seeing Gavin’s usually gentle demeanor shift into something cold and ruthless, like he wanted to kill her, Karena’s face turned pale. She quickly grabbed her clothes from the floor and left in a hurry.
“Baby…”
Gavin tried to approach me, but I pulled
away.
“Don’t touch me. You’re filthy.”
“Fine.” Gavin stood with his hands on his hips, looking at me helplessly. “I know you’re upset right now. You don’t want to see me. You need some space to be alone. I’ll go. But, baby, I want you to know–despite everything, you’re still Mrs. Chambers. Take

“What if I don’t?” I asked stubbornly.
