I agreed.
Behind the iron bars, Karena looked ashen, no longer holding the vibrant energy she once had.
She spoke first, “I know everything now. You’re Emonie, not Carmel!”
“I’m Carmel, and I have all the legal documents to prove it!”
In this situation, I knew better than to fall into Karena’s verbal traps, so I proceeded with caution.
“Hahaha…”
Karena’s laughter was chilling. “You can

deny it all you want! It doesn’t matter who you are, the outcome is still me winning!”
“You won?” I asked, a little surprised.
“Of course!”
Karena’s eyes suddenly sharpened, “I killed your parents, and I killed the child inside you. Three lives for my one–this business was a surefire win! So, in the end, I won! The winner is still me!”
“Is that so?” I smiled faintly, “If you’re dead, what happens to the child? After all, his biological father is going to die just like you, and he’ll be left alone.”
Karena’s emotions flared up, and she slammed her hand on the table as she stood

“I’m the winner… I’m the winner… I’m the
winner, hahahaha…”
The guards quickly stepped in, restraining her and dragging her away.
The visit was abruptly cut short.
After Karena’s death, Gavin woke up.
He was formally arrested and sentenced to death.
Before he died, just like Karena, he requested
to see me.
Surprisingly, Ms. Coleman offered to accompany me.
Under the guard’s supervision, Ms. Coleman and I were brought to see Gavin.

He no longer held the vitality he once had; his appearance was devoid of life.
Ms. Coleman scoffed beside me, “Gavin, Gavin, you scum who would stop at nothing to use others for your own gain, you’ve finally received what you deserved!”
Gavin ignored her, his gaze fixated on me.
“Before I die, I’m glad you came to see me, Emonie. Whether you forgive me or not, I still want to say ‘I’m sorry‘…”
“I’ll tell you this, Gavin: she’s Carmel. You need to apologize to her, and also to me!”
Ms. Coleman’s tone was fierce, but she quickly regained composure. “But even if you apologize, we’ll never forgive you! Take your repentance and go to hell!”

After speaking, Ms. Coleman turned to me, “Do you have anything to say to him?”
I looked at Gavin. In that moment, I felt no sense of satisfaction from revenge.
This feeling was truly tormenting.
I took a deep breath and shook my head.
“Then let’s go.”
“Alright… Mom.”
After leaving the prison, Ms. Coleman looked up at the sky, took a deep breath, and tried to force a smile as she spoke to me, “It’s finally over! Let’s go to the cemetery and pay respects to your parents.”
I nodded.

To keep my identity hidden from Gavin and Karena, I had never visited my parents‘
graves.
Now, everything was finally coming to a close. It was time to report to my parents.
Ms. Coleman and I bought two bunches of chrysanthemums and went to the cemetery.
As I looked at the black–and–white photos of my parents on their gravestone, tears fell freely.
“Dad, Mom, I’ve avenged you! I’m sorry I’m only coming to see you now!”
After the sorrow, I wiped my tears and noticed Ms. Coleman standing at a nearby gravestone.
I walked slowly toward her, and when I saw

the photo on the gravestone, I froze for a moment.
“He was my husband.”
Ms. Coleman spoke first, “Nine years ago, he had an affair with your husband Gavin, abandoning me and Carmel. But then he discovered Gavin had been deceiving him, using him to empty his wallet. My daughter, Carmel, died in the hospital because I couldn’t afford treatment. He couldn’t accept the reality and eventually took his own life.”
“I see…”
So that was why Ms. Coleman supported my revenge with everything she had.
She was helping me, but also helping herself.
I took a deep breath, unsure of what to say.

Looking up at the sky, I saw the dark clouds slowly dissipating, and rays of golden light piercing through the clouds…
