Francis froze for a moment, quickly setting down his glass. “It’s fine. You should head back now.”
Clara had always been uncomfortable with the relationship between him and Natalie. If she found out that he was drinking with Natalie, she would never forgive him.
Natalie had always been anxious about her relationship with Francis, but no matter what she did. he never seemed to catch on.
Now that Francis had been drinking, if he got drunk, wouldn’t that be my perfect chance to create an opportunity? It wouldn’t be far for me from becoming Mrs. Pierce then.
“Francis, I’m worried about you drinking alone. Let me stay and keep you company,” Natalie said. her voice full of genuine concern, moving him slightly.
Although Francis understood Natalie’s feelings for him, he had already chosen Clara, and he was determined not to get involved with Natalie. But why could Clara not believe him?
If only she could be as understanding as Natalie.
“Dad…. What happened to you? Why are you locking yourself in the room? You scared me to death!”
Wesley, who had been trying to sleep, was still worried about Francis. He quietly crept over to check on him. Seeing the door to the study open, he started crying and ran inside.
Francis immediately squatted down and pulled him into his arms.
Seeing Wesley in his arms, Natalie quickly concealed her anger and smiled. “Wesley, what are you doing here? Didn’t I tell you to go to sleep?”
Francis glanced at Natalie with appreciation before gently reproaching, “That’s right. Why didn’t you listen to Ms. Dawson and go to bed early?”
Meanwhile, Wesley had stopped crying, his eyes still shining with tears. “I’m worried about Daddy. And I’m afraid that Daddy wouldn’t want me anymore.”
Looking at Wesley’s pitiful face, Francis’s heart ached. “Don’t worry, Wesley. Daddy will never not
want you.”
Wesley blinked his bright eyes and asked, “Then, can Daddy sleep with me tonight?”
At these words, Natalie’s heart skipped a beat.
“Of course,” Francis answered without hesitation.
Natalie’s smile faltered slightly, and she quickly added, “Francis, you’ve drunk so much tonight,
you smell like alcohol yourself. Maybe it’s better not to sleep with Wesley.”

Francis smiled, “In that case, I’ll sleep with you tonight.”

He then turned to Natalie and said, “Natalie, it’s late now. It’s not suitable for you to stay here. You should head back.”
Francis then took Wesley and left.
Natalie, thinking she had just arrived and now had to leave, felt frustrated. She shot a resentful look at Wesley.
The next few days, Clara was busy with company affairs, and Lyla had been taken back by Zoe.
As the New Year approached, the streets were filled with festive cheer.
At the Pierce Residence….
“Natalie, I’m so happy that you could come, Desiree said, holding Natalie’s hand with affection.
“You and Francis were originally engaged. If it weren’t for Francis insisting on marrying that woman, you would’ve been my daughter–in–law by now.” When she mentioned Clara, a trace of disdain appeared on her face.
She glanced toward the door, frowning as Clara still had not arrived. Her frustration grew.
That shameless woman, knowing full well there was a family dinner today, still hadn’t shown up. It’s as if she doesn’t know any manners.
Natalie gave a shy smile and glanced toward Francis, who was playing with Wesley.
“Honestly, Francis should divorce that woman and marry you instead, Desiree said, her face showing a touch of sympathy. “But it would be unfair to you. You’d have to step into a motherly role right away and take care of the child.”
Natalie glanced at Francis and gazed at him lovingly. “The other day, Francis and Clara were getting a divorce. If Francis is willing to marry me, I wouldn’t feel wronged at all.”
Desiree was surprised. “What? They’re getting a divorce?”
“Madam Desiree, didn’t you know?” Natalie realized her slip of the tongue, her eyes nervously flickering to Desiree.
Desiree was furious. “That brat… and he didn’t even bother mentioning such a big thing to me!”
Natalie quickly leaned in, gently patting her hand. “Madam Desiree, please don’t be upset. I didn’t know Francis hadn’t told you. I thought you knew about it… If I had known you didn’t know, 1 wouldn’t have said anything.”
Desiree patted her hand softly. “This isn’t your fault. It’s Francis‘ and that woman’s fault. They
