Chapter 27 Encounter at the Mall
At the mall.

Since she wasn’t going home for the New Year, Clara decided to buy gifts. She’d ask Liam to take them to the family. It was a small way to show her care.
She touched a silk scarf. It was soft. The design was simple..
“You’ve got great taste. This scarf is our store’s latest style. It’s one–of–a–kind. A lady ordered it but canceled, so it’s here now,” the sales assistant said.
“I’ll take it,” a voice said from behind before Clara could reply..
Clara turned.
Natalie stood there, smirking at her.
“Clara, what a coincidence! It’s you,” Natalie said, pretending to be surprised.
Clara didn’t want to bother with her. She took the scarf and headed to pay.
Seeing her walk away, Natalie called out, “Wait, Clara! I wanted that scarf first. Isn’t it rude to take it?”
She snapped at the sales assistant, “Hurry up and wrap it for me!”
The sales assistant looked at Natalie awkwardly.
“What are you staring at? Wrap it!” Natalie barked again.
Clara chuckled. She handed the scarf to the assistant. “Please wrap it for me, it’s a gift,” she said gently.
The assistant took it carefully and went to the counter.
Natalie fumed. The assistant only listened to Clara. “Stop! Didn’t you hear me? I wanted it firs
she shouted.
Clara looked at her like she was foolish.
“Stop yelling. If you’re not a gold member here, they won’t wrap unique items for you,” Clara said.
Natalie froze. Then she scoffed, “As if you’re a gold member.”
“Ms. Westwood is indeed our gold member,” the sales assistant said innocently.
Natalie’s face darkened. “How do I become a gold member? I want to sign up.” she demanded.

“2.8 million?” Natalie gasped. “Why don’t you just rob me?”
She thought, spending 2.8 million at once, how much would I have to buy?
“Sorry, miss,” the assistant said. “That scarf alone costs 2.36 million.”

Natalie was stunned as she thought, a scarf worth over 2.3 million? How did Clara have that kind of money? She must be using Francis’s card. And gold membership needed such huge spending. Clara must have blown through Francis’s money over the years. That was my money. I couldn’t let Clara waste it.
Natalie smirked. “Clara, I didn’t expect this. Even with your divorce from Francis coming, you’re still draining his money. But your plan won’t work. These luxury items won’t sell much later. I’d stop if I were you.” she said.
Clara laughed lightly. She looked at Natalie like she was an idiot.
Clara thought, back with the Westwood family, I shopped at this brand all the time. After marrying Francis, I avoided expensive things hiding my identity. I bought within his budget. Sometimes, I even used my own money to help out. Growing up, I had my own card. The Westwood family gave me millions a month. I had plenty of scarves like this at home. Why would I sell luxury items?
“Even dogs see everything as dirty,” Clara said, giving her a dismissive glance.
Natalie had never been insulted like that by Clara. She was furious.
But then she thought, Clara was about to divorce Francis. Soon, everything would be mine. She felt better.
“Clara, act as smug as you want. Francis is divorcing you. After that, it’ll all be mine.” Natalie said.
“You don’t know yet, do you? Madam Desiree is already planning my wedding with Francis. Once you’re divorced, we’ll marry right away. Your kid, your husband, they’ll be mine.”
“If you give me that scarf now, I might let you see the kid sometimes. Otherwise, when I’m Mrs. Pierce, good luck seeing him.”
