Clara swept a cold gaze over the father and son, her eyes finally locking onto the small bundle of flesh in Francis‘ arms.
This was the person she had risked her life for, the one she had cared for meticulously over the past five years. Yet time and time again, he had stood by his dad’s side, accusing her for the sake of another woman. And now, he had spoken rudely to her beloved Zoe, nearly causing her harm.
Compared to Francis‘ attitude toward her, it was Wesley who hurt her the most.
Taking a deep breath to suppress the ache in her heart, she forced a relieved smile, her
gaze fixed unwaveringly on Wesley. “Wesley, you don’t have to apologize. It doesn’t matter anymore. From now on, I’m not your Mommy, and I won’t care about you. You can call whoever you want
Mommy! You can choose whoever you want to be your Mommy.”
Already furious, Wesley’s anger flared even more at her words. He turned to Clara, tears streaming down his face, and shouted with all his might, “You said it yourself! From now on, I will never call you Mommy again!”
With that, he buried his face in Francis‘ shoulder, sobbing once more, as if everything was Clara’s fault from the very beginning.
A flicker of hesitation flashed through Clara’s eyes.
“Clara, you’ve gone too far! Wesley is just a child. How could you say something so cruel to him?” Francis scolded, his eyes blazing with anger as he looked at the devastated boy.
Clara let out a cold laugh. “Hasn’t he told you enough times? He wants Natalie to be his Mommy. I’m only granting his wish.”
“He’s just a kid! He doesn’t understand anything. He simply likes Natalie, so he speaks without thinking. And you’re really going to hold that against him?” Francis took a deep breath, his brows furrowed tightly.
In his mind, Clara was just being jealous, unwilling to see Wesley and him grow close to Natalie.
This time, however, she had taken things too far.
Clara knew that no matter how much she explained, this man would never believe she was truly letting go of him and Wesley. She knew Francis too well, just as she knew that he understood how much she loved both him and Wesley.
“If you refuse to divorce, I’ll take you to court. And when that happens, don’t blame me for exposing your dirty secrets with Natalie. If this gets out, you know what the consequences will be.”
With those parting words, Clara cast Wesley one last glance before turning away.

Francis‘ brows knitted together as he watched Clara’s retreating figure. The way she looked just now didn’t seem like she was joking. But thinking about her feelings for him over the past few years, he still couldn’t believe she would truly leave him.
Gently patting Wesley’s back, he reassured him, “Don’t worry, Wesley. Your mommy was just speaking in anger. She won’t leave us.”
Though meant to comfort Wesley, the words sounded more like he was convincing himself.
“Hmph! I’ll never talk to Mommy again! She’s a big meanie!”
Francis frowned. “Wesley, you can’t say that, especially in front of your mommy. If she hears she’ll be hurt.”
“Wesley, what’s wrong? Why are you crying? Did someone bully you?”
A voice suddenly rang out behind them. Neither of them had noticed when Natalie had appeared, but now she stood there, her expression filled with concern as she looked at Wesley sobbing in Francis‘ arms.
The moment he saw Natalie, Wesley’s sorrow over being abandoned by Clara lessened significantly.
“Ms. Dawson, where did you go?” He immediately reached out for her, wanting to be held.

A trace of displeasure flickered across Natalie’s face at the sight of chubby little Wesley, but she quickly masked it. Instead of embracing him, she said with a gentle smile, “Wesley, I’m holding a gift for
you, so I can’t carry you right now.”
Hearing the word “gift,” Wesley’s mood brightened instantly. He slid off Francis lap, full of anticipation.
“Ms. Dawson, what did you get me?”
Natalie exchanged a glance with Francis, who looked equally puzzled. She let out a soft chuckle. “Well, Wesley, if you tell me why you were crying, I’ll give it to you.”
Wesley had already been planning to tell her everything. Now, with the promise of a gift, he couldn’t wait.
After explaining what had happened, he huffed angrily, adding, “Mommy was too much! I’ll never forgive her!”
Wesley.” Francis‘ reprimand came immediately.
Wesley shot him a glance before retreating into Natalie’s arms.
“Ms. Dawson, do you think I was wrong?” he asked, looking up at her expectantly.
Natalie met his gaze with a smile. “No, Wesley, you weren’t wrong. I think you were very brave.

“Natalie, Clara does love Wesley…” Francis started to speak up for Clara.
Natalie turned her gaze to him. “Francis, I know Clara loves her child. But true love means always standing by their side, no matter what. Even if Wesley was wrong, she shouldn’t have hit him in front of everyone and forced him to apologize. Back then, when you left the Pierce family, Clara followed you because she loved you and supported you unconditionally. But now, the way she’s treating Wesley, I think her love for both of you has changed.”
Francis fell silent at her words.
When he had left the Pierce family to start his own business, Clara had stayed with him through jeverything, never wavering. But now…
Thinking about what had happened today, doubt crept into his heart.
Has Clara really stopped loving me and our child?
“Hmph! I knew Mommy didn’t love me as much as Ms. Dawson! Mommy only forces me to do things I don’t like. She makes me eat bitter stuff, but Ms. Dawson gives me delicious food and fun. toys.”
With that, he threw his arms around Natalie and planted a kiss on her cheek. “Ms. Dawson, since Mommy is divorcing Daddy, can you be my Mommy instead?”
Natalie turned to Francis, her eyes filled with doubt, but more than that was expectation.
She wanted to hear him say it himself. Only then would all her efforts be worth it.
Francis avoided her gaze. “Natalie, Clara was just speaking in anger. She doesn’t really want a divorce. Please don’t take Wesley’s words to heart.”
Hearing this, disappointment flickered across Natalie’s face.
“I understand. I won’t misunderstand, Francis. I know that whatever we had is in the past. I just want to stay by your side, to watch over you and accompany you, I won’t interfere with you and Clara. And if she misunderstands, I can even help you explain.”
