CHAPTER SEVENTY FOUR – When Love is Not Enough
Kira’s lips curved into a smirk. “Of course. I’ll be more careful next time.” She sauntered away, leaving Laura to deal with the mess.
Despite the tension at work, Laura found herself settling into a comfortable rhythm with Justin. One evening, she decided it was time for him to meet her roommate.
“Jessie, Justin’s coming over for game night tonight,” Laura called out as she entered their apartment.
Jessie’s head popped out from her bedroom. “Ooh, finally! I get to meet the mysterious boyfriend.”
Laura rolled her eyes. “He’s not mysterious. I’ve told you about him.”
“Yeah, but hearing about someone isn’t the same as meeting them,” Jessie retorted. “Don’t worry, I’ll be on my best behavior.” When Justin arrived, bearing a bottle of wine and a board game tucked under his arm, Jessie greeted him with enthusiasm.
