Elijah’s expression relaxed a bit. He raised his hand and pointed at the fish soup on Cameron’s plate, saying, “Drink some soup.”
Cameron didn’t move but said softly, “Elijah, can I discuss something with you?”
Elijah picked up a fork and stabbed a piece of steak. “What is it?”
Cameron said, “Can we keep some distance?”
Elijah looked at her in confusion.
Cameron glanced at their classmates diagonally behind and said, “Our classmates are talking about whether we are… You know.”
Elijah still didn’t understand and said, “What?”
Cameron said, “They said we are gay.”
