Chapter 14 Jocelyn Held Captive
After returning to his room, Nathan did not want Marcus’s longing for his mother to be mistakenly directed at the similarly looking but ulterior motived Rebecca. He pulled out his phone to call Jocelyn.
“Sorry, the number you have dialed is currently busy. Please try again later. The official voice of customer service spoke.
He furrowed his brow, assuming Jocelyn was busy, and hung up. On the other end, Greg turned off the phone and tossed it into the bathtub.
He gazed at Jocelyn, who lay unconscious and bare on the bed, his eyes brimming with smug satisfaction.
Tonight had been wonderful.
“Beep. His phone rang, this time it was his own.
Smiling, he picked it up, “Hey, Scarlett, what’s up?”
Scarlett eagerly asked, “Mr. Greg, I just wanted to know how things went? Was it successful?”
Greg had promised her forty thousand if he succeeded with Rebecca, and Jocelyn had also promised her a sum of money after the deed. Combined, it would be enough for her to spend for half a year. It was she who had tricked Rebecca into coming here. Now, she was anxious about the outcome.
Greg couldn’t stop grinning. “It’s done, she’s right here next to me! Young girls are just the best–fair–skinned, tender, and so pliable. I’ve never been this comfortable in my life. From tonight. I’m keeping her by my side forever, and we’ll handle the marriage registration later. I’ll have someone transfer your money tomorrow morning
Scarlett, pleased with the news, responded without hesitation. That’s great, no objections here, but she’s been fiery since she was young, so make sure you keep a tight leash and train‘ her well.”
“Don’t worry, Ill make sure she’s thoroughly tamed. No one escapes from the dark room in my house.”
Their conversation was akin to two rats conspiring in a sewer. The unconscious Jocelyn had become nothing more than prey.
Unaware of Scarlet’s schemes against her or the grand misunderstanding, Rebecca left the villa and decided not to return. She called her best friend Natasha.
Natasha drove over in her pink car and, after hearing the whole story, cursed loudly, “That damn old woman dared to do this to you? She has no conscience. She’s not human!”
“But Rebecca, you met disguise, I’m so
rson by chance and now have to interact with Nathan daily; it’s a blessing in jealous!”
Do you think you and Mr. Nathan could end up in a romance plot?”
Rebecca rolled her eyes, You’re an adult, when will you stop watching those stupid TV dramas? Seriously, promise me. never let Emma know about her father.
For years, she had told Emma that her father was dead. If Emma knew her father was still alive and was a handsome man like Nathan, with her fangirl tendencies, she’d surely forget her mother in a heartbeat.
looked at her, “Why? He’s Nathan, a heartthrob for all women and an idol for men across the empire. If he knew you. the mother of his child and had such a cute daughter, he’d surely marry you and then you’d leap up the social ladder. never wanting for food or clothes again. Isn’t that good?”
Rebecca shook her head vigorously, “No way! I’m not interested in a blind man who can’t even tell his wives apart. Plus, he’s my brother–in–law, don’t even think about it. Right now, I just hope Marcus regains his innocence and health, and that he and

Rebecca, tired of the silly topic, said, “Okay, I asked you here to help me with something. I need you to take Emma out and let her stay at your place for a while. You know, even though Scarlett was awful, she used to treat Emma well. I stayed because the rent was high, and I needed help looking after Emma. But now, knowing Greg’s twisted hobbies and her willingness to marry me off to him, I can’t ensure Emma’s safety. I’m afraid if I get too caught up with Marcus’s issues, she might sell Emma
Natasha nodded, “That old woman is wicked enough to do it. Let’s go, I’ll pick her up right now.”
“Thanks,” Rebecca said.
“Hey, don’t thank me, Just remember me when you and Mr. Nathan end up together, Natasha teased with a laugh,
A flock of crows flew over Rebecca’s head.
She really hadn’t considered any relationship with Nathan. How could I break this line of thought
Her head hurt….
