After settling Emma at Natasha’s house, Rebecca took leave from her job to devote her full attention to caring for Marcus, hoping to help him emerge from the shadows of autism.
In the morning, after dropping Emma off at kindergarten, Rebecca headed straight to the villa. It was 7.30 AM, and the villa was peaceful, surrounded by the sounds of birds and the scent of flowers.
As she entered, Nathan was already having breakfast, his every move exuding the grace of high society. Spotting Rebecca, his cool gaze narrowed slightly.
She hadn’t been given a specific time to arrive, yet she was here early–how proactive.
He coolly said, “On the table, there’s a list of Marcus’s likes and dislikes. Read it carefully; he can’t afford mistakes.”
“Okay” Rebecca nodded promptly and picked up the notebook.
(The list was detailed, with ten clear likes and dislikes of Marcus
“I’ve got it all, I take good care of Marcus, she assured.
Nathan set down his coffee and stood with a refined grace. “If there’s anything, contact Mike.”
With that cold remark, he left the villa, presumably for work. Rebecca breathed a sigh of relief; his presence always made her
uneasy,
Once his car disappeared from view, she went upstairs to Marcus’s room, “Marcus, I’m here!”
Marcus sat up in bed upon seeing her, his eyes sparkling with a hint of light. He threw off the covers and motioned for her to help him dress.
Rebecca chuckled inwardly at his laziness and approached the wardrobe, only to be stunned.
The entire closet was filled with black shirts, black trousers, black suits–even the socks in the lowest compartment were black
“Is this what a child should wear? Marcus, don’t you have other clothes?”
Marcus shook his head.
Rebecca was puzzled; Emma had always worn colorful and varied outfits, as did most children. Why did he only have black? No wonder his personality seemed to repressed.
“We’ll wear this for now, but I’ll take you shopping for new clothes later, she decided.
Marcus nodded, and after getting dressed and washed, he followed Rebecca downstairs for breakfast and then to the study for reading
He remained silent throughout.
How could this continuet Suddenly, Rebecca had an idea. She leaned over Marcus’s desk, “Marcus, let’s play a game! You can’t refuse, and there’s a reward if you answer correctly. If you were poor and had to choose between a fishing rod and a basket of fish, which would you pick!”
Marcus seemed surprised by the game but finally responded, “A basket of fish”
Rebecca was delighted that he spoke, a rare occurrence indeed.
“You got it wrong! It’s better to teach a man to fish than to give him fish. The fish in your basket will run out, but with a fishing rod, you can catch many more”

fishing rods, continue fishing, and keep renting them out. That way, I’d make a fortune every day. Isn’t that better?”
business–minded
Rebecca was taken aback. Could I think like that? Is this business minded approach inherited from Nathan?

Impressed beyond words, Rebecca was utterly convinced by his logic but puzzled by one thing, “Marcus, you speak so fluently and correctly, why don’t you talk more often?”
