Chapter 27 Was Rebecca Getting Married?
At the villa, the night was tranquil, with silver lights shimmering outside the windows. The sound of fountains gushing and the serene beauty of the nightscape created an atmosphere of calm
On the modern, elegant sofa sat Marcus and Nathan, Nathan exuded a noble and commanding presence, while Marcus looked cool and cute, though his small face showed concern.
“Daddy, why isn’t Rebecca back yet? Did something bad happen to her on the way?” Marcus couldn’t hold back his worry. Ever since living with Rebecca, he had grown attached to her and seemed to have become quite talkative. There’s been a lot of news lately about young women being murdered. Rebecca’s so pretty, bad people are bound to target her.”
Nathan had never seen his son worry so much about someone or talk this much. He raised his cold, sharp brows.
“When have you ever been this concerned about me?”
Marcus replied coolly, “You can handle ten wolves on your own. What’s there to worry about? Daddy, shouldn’t you call her? If you don’t, I might cry, and trust me, the consequences will be serious.”
Nathan’s brow twitched. This brat was threatening him–for that woman! Is he really my son, or is he Rebecca’s?
His expression darkened as he turned his noble gaze toward Mike in the corner and instructed him to make the call.
Mike obeyed and took out his phone, just about to dial.
Suddenly, the doorbell rang
Mike walked over to open the door. When he saw the woman standing outside, he was momentarily surprised, “Ms. Rebecca, Marcus was just worried about you. We were about to call you.
Hearing that Rebecca was back, Marcus immediately jumped off the sofa and ran over. “Rebecca, you’re back-
Before he could finish, his face fell. “You’re not Rebecca.”
Not Rebecca? Then it had to be Jocelyn!
Mike felt awkward and quickly bowed his head to apologize. I’m sorry, Mrs. Zimmerman. You and Ms. Rebecca, look so much alike that I mistook you for her. My deepest apologies.”
Jocelyn was taken aback. Both Marcus and Mike had mistaken me for Rebecca? Just now, Marcus had eagerly run over to greet Rebecca? That wretched woman! She claimed not to care, yet she had secretly moved into the villa and son Marcus’s heart!
The thought of the suffering Rebecca would endure later brought Jocelyn a small sense of satisfaction. She forced a smile and said sweetly, “Marcus, you’re talking now! Can you call me Mommy?”
Her voice was gentle, and her smile was warm.
Marcus looked at her with his large, clear eyes. A second later, he shook his head, turned around, and went upstairs clutching his teddy bear.
His small steps and posture were as cold, aloof, and proud as ever.
Mike and Nathan were both slightly surprised. By logic, Marcus should long for maternal love and gravitate toward Jocelyn. Why did he seem unhappy instead? Was it a rebellious reaction caused by wanting too much?
Mike didn’t dare comment and quickly followed Marcus upstairs to look after him.
Jocelyn felt extremely awkward. We have the same face, so why did Marcus like Rebecca and not me? What if this aroused Nathan’s suspicions! That brat!

Nathan’s sharp brows furrowed slightly. When Rebecca had first moved in, he had considered letting Jocelyn move in as well to prevent Marcus from becoming too attached to the wrong person. Now that Jocelyn had brought it up herself be should have felt pleased. So why is there resistance in my subconscious?
Jocelyn studied Nathan’s inscrutable face, which was shrouded in a faint mist she could never quite penetrate. Wyco Rebecca live here while I couldn‘?!
She pressed on. “Nathan, I know Rebecca understands children better and takes good care of them. But she’s just their aunt Living here isn’t exactly appropriate, and she’s planning to get married. It’ll be difficult for her to focus on caring for Marcus We shouldn’t keep troubling her”
Nathan’s lips curled slightly. “Married?
His noble voice carried a hint of cold surprise.
Jocelyn nodded. “Yes, her adoptive mother mentioned it by chance. Apparently, she’s marrying that widowed man, Greg Rebecca is too much. Even if Greg’s assets would all go to her, how could she sacrifice her happiness like that? Next time I see her. I must talk some sense into her.”
Her words, though outwardly concerned, subtly implied that Rebecca was marrying an old man for money.
Nathan’s face darkened Didn’t I already give Rebecca a black card Why is she still that desperate for money?
The air grew icy. Jocelyn suddenly clutched her stomach her face turning pale. “Ah, it hurts…”
She supposedly suffered from severe menstrual pain caused by childbirth, according to doctors.
Of course, this was a lie.
Nathan didn’t know the truth and attributed Jocelyn’s monthly suffering to his responsibility. He set aside his thoughts and said. “Go rest in your room. I’ll have Caleb send some medicine over
“Thank you, Nathan, Jocelyn replied weakly, clutching her abdomen as she made her way upstairs.
Once inside her room, the pained expression vanished, replaced by smug satisfaction. Nathan might not show much concern: for her, unlike other attentive boyfriends, but this excuse gave her an opportunity to stay. She could move in eventually, and there would be plenty of chances in the future.
More importantly, Nathan’s growing dislike for Rebecca was exactly what she wanted. Dear sister hote are you doing now
In the dark room, it was cold. So cold.
Rebecca drifted in and out of consciousness, surrounded by darkness and icy air. She didn’t know where she was, only that her mind felt muddled and heavy. She repeatedly fell into an oppressive, endless slumber
It felt like an eternity passed. Suddenly, harsh sunlight pierced through the room, and the sound of footsteps echoed in her ears. Rebecca jolted awake.
What she saw horrified her–a tacky, gaudy room that screamed the taste of a nouveau riche. The decorations were garish, and the approaching man was obese, bald, and utterly repulsive.
Greg!
He was the one who had knocked her out and brought her here!
“Greg, you bastard!” Rebecca yelled, trying to get up and escape, But with a loud clink, she realized her wrists and ankles were shackled.
“This is illegal! Let me go! Release me right now!” she demanded furiously.
Gre chuckled darkly towering over her with a sinister erin

“What?” Rebecca frowned.
Greg held out a glass of water before she could react. Though it looked clear and ordinary, Rebecca knew it wasn’t safe..
No! I couldn’t drink it. Bound as she was, drinking it would mean certain death.
N’hat should I do? Someone, please save me!
Just as despair began to overwhelm her..
